It seems that Swedes generally lean left. The present government is more to the right. However, when compared to the U.S., Sweden is probably to the far left even with the "conservative" government that is in power.

Swedes want government to control everything and are willing to pay for it. Swedes now pay one of the highest taxes in the world (around 50% or so when you consider all the taxes, income, MOMs, etc.). It is now one of the most expensive countries in the world in which to live in. However, quality of life is generally quite good. So, there are positives and negatives.
