One of the first things the US does in any of these regime changes is to seize control of the oil. It's already started in Venezuela. Bolton has openly stated that they intend to take the oil.

US wants to transfer control of Citgo

The US funds the labor unions, student organizations, and other activist groups in fomenting unrest and violence in Venezuela. If Iraq and other previous regime changes are examples, they will try to outlaw unions once they take over.

The number of people displaced by the fake global war on terror has reached 68.5 million. Congo and South Sudan lead the number of new refugees. Myanmar looks like another vital oil & gas transport route being disrupted by the US and Saudis, the latter building hundreds of schools for indoctrinating militant Muslims in neighboring Bangladesh.

Refugees who have fled their countries to escape conflict and persecution accounted for 25.4 million. This is 2.9 million more than in 2016, also the biggest increase UNHCR has ever seen in a single year.

On Jan 22nd the RuAF lost a Tu-22 Backfire in a training accident. They were landing in a blizzard and the trainee pilot came in too fast and landed too hard. The plane broke in half. All but the instructer died in the crash. The lone survivor is in the hospital and is expected to survive. It's just plain dangerous landing anything in a blizzard. I've landed at Russian airports (Shremetevo) in full on blizzards nose wheel first and sideways and it had a pucker factor of 10+.

What is at stake for Russia in Venezuela?
Russia could lose a lot if Nicolas Maduro is ousted in Venezuela. Moscow's massive loans to Caracas are only one piece of the puzzle — Venezuelan oil reserves could bring down the price of oil and upset Russia's economy.

I can't agree with you. Sanctions on Venezuela IMPOSED by the US and others are what is hurting Venezuela. Sanctions IMPOSED by the US and others on Cuba since the 1950's have had an adverse effect on Cuba for decades. Sanctions have stifled the growth and development of Cuba. Look at the Korean Peninsula, there will NEVER be peace there so long as the US is involved just as Russia and Japan will NEVER sign a peace treaty over WWII as long as the US is involved in that. The sanctions on Russia are meant to slow and stifle Russias development, it's not about protecting Ukraine, that was just an excuse.

I see China building the the New Silk Road. They're in Kazakhstan now and heading down the Indus River valley in Pakistan. This is going to give a billion people the opportunity to better themselves. Eventually it's going to reach all the way to Africa. Chinas way of doing things doesn't displace millions of people, sow war and death over whole nations. Russia watches her own neighborhood and keeps the peace against what it has been proven to be thugs sponsored by western interests.

I see China and Russia being CONSTRUCTIVE not DESTRUCTIVE.

America?

China and Russia are winning the respect of people the world over.

America is not.

Bogeymen. There are probably many more ghosts (never existed) and legends (inflated)

Zarqawi

Baghdadi

I've thought possibly the same with Shishani (the Chechen ISIS commander) who was killed and re-killed many times.

Terrible airfield. Where is the navigation lights? How did they land at zero visibility? The operator knew that there would be a disaster. Teaching a pilot trainee to land during this weather condition is suicide. Russian pilots are crazy!

Landing in blizzards is one of the requirements for qualifying to fly the TU-22. Landing under adverse conditions, on instruments only and without airfield assistance is also required. It's called realistic training. They do this all the time because the pilots have to requalify every so many hours just like the pilots anywhere else.

Were this the time of war I doubt there would even be the tail light of a truck on anywhere in the area let alone the landing strip lights. Why make your airbase a nice brightly lit target covered in pretty lights?

Russian pilots are crazy and damn good at what they do. They train for the real thing. The chopper pilots are even crazier.

Here's some more. Russia is moving further away from the economic system of the west. This Venezuela thing goes further and deeper than we know.
