The bridge over the Amur river between China and Russia is almost finished. This is going to greatly simplify transportation in the region.

China-Russia digital silk road venture

China, Russia seek to erect internet walled off from the Five Eyes spy network

There are a lot of interesting articles on Huawei's role in building an internet system that's free from foreign spying and device tampering and how the US is trying to block China by preventing the export of semiconductor components for their network equipment.

This is good all the way around. As usual the US is short sighted, especially with this trade war started by The Orange One. China doesn't need American consumers. They can go elsewhere to get consumers.

Quote:
"By partnering with Russia’s leading consumer internet platform, AliExpress Russia will leverage Mail.Ru Group’s 100 million internet users across its social media, messaging, e-mail and online games properties. With access to this unique platform and user base, the JV will fill a highly complementary role in the Russian consumer lifestyle value chain, creating a one-stop platform for social, communications, gaming and shopping," the press release stated. The deal will also grant Russian small and medium-sized enterprises access to Alibaba's customers.
The development of Central Asia is what is going to push America over the edge of the cliff into irrelevance.

Huawai refused to install NSA backdoors. Hence, they became very popular backbone for national networks. The NSA broke into their corporate systems and boasted of installing backdoors in Huawei's firmware.

Considering how paranoid humans and human organizations can be I can believe Sykes when he says back doors would be suicide for the company. Unless of course the consumer has little choice or the builders are good enough the their backdoors cannot be found.

I don't know much about the subject. I still have a flip phone.

There is extra space you can't see in the firmware of device controllers for programs and files you store and forward at a time network traffic is heavy so that it's not detected. The Chinese stole sensitive military documents from Taiwan by installing backdoors in hard drive controllers. I've heard the US has been doing this since the early 90's, essentially since the widespread use of networking and computers being connected 24/7.

Since there's a consortium of five governments, they can get around laws on domestic spying because of the sharing of the stored call data. The Trump dossier is something along that line. The CIA/FBI can't do it so MI6 is producing analysis that the domestic agencies use to open inquiries.

According to this article at about the system, there is a better reason for excluding Chinese equipment because of their vulnerability to government's installing spy software in their systems.

The Chinese government can install backdoors on Huawei's systems as can the Americans, but it's harder to do so with the American systems since the firmware is regularly updated from the manufacturer.
