Looks to me like you're having your own little private backlash already.

Today's example is he wouldn't answer questions to the press about shooting missles into Pakistan. Why the heck are we now shooting missles into Pakistan a soveign country!!!

He man-handled one reporter. One reporter asked about the timing of the bailout to help displaced people and he got put in his place. What happened to "Mr. Transparency" and "change"? Unfreaking believable!
this was happening before he was president as well. he's only been there for less than 3 days.
The US has been violating sovereign countries for quite some time. The only candidates in the 2 major parties that would never do this would probably be kucinich and ron paul.

I'd agree that it's too soon to pass judgement on Obama. IMO, he has done some good things (ethics reform, freeze on top WH staff salaries) and some bad things (adjustments to coercive interrogation, GITMO shutdown and the pending lift of ban on federal funds for abortion rights groups abroad). None of these are really major actions, though. Of course, some people can disagree as to whether these are good or bad things.

ALL Presidents do good things (even W) and bad things (even Obama). The rubber should hit the road pretty soon if the Economic Recovery plan hits his desk. It sounds like the issues of Bush tax cuts for the highest earners and EFCA/card check should come up by the middle of 2009. Once we get his positions on those issues, we'll have a better sense of whether he's leading us in a good or bad direction.

One thing I think Congress and Obama can do is try to cut some of the fat out of the way bloated Federal Budget. Even if they are going to assume more debt, that doesn't mean they can start trimming the fat ASAP. The budget is around $ 3.2 Trillion; with that as a benchmark, it shouldn't be hard to cut at least $100-300 B out of it.

Not too shabby

Oh Yes the poor people are loosing their jobs states are running out of unemployment money and you can say that its not to shabby, the money he spent fully knowing what the country is going through says a lot about Barack Obama.

The Liberals bitched and moaned about Bush spending so much and we were not in a recession, he didn't spend a fraction of what this looser spent.

Well I agree that the ethics reforms and wage freeze are good things now and later on. But the closing of Gitmo, IMO is a huge mistake. Where are these alleged terrorist going to go? Set free?
I am sure Obama has good intentions like I stated in the OP, but has anyone really thought of the lasting effects these may have on us Americans. I think once the effects take hold or people realize what he is doing in some cases are mistake will we see a backlash, not from just conservatives but liberals as well.

Bush spent $157 million dollars on his 2005 inaug, using private funds, fed funds and DC funds. We didnt know this until recently.
The $40 million does not include the cost of a web of security, including everything from 7,000 troops to volunteer police officers from far away, to some of the most sophisticated detection and protection equipment.

Snow and Crowds Descend on Capital (washingtonpost.com)

The question for the press then becomes: How much did the government spend on security for Bush's 2005 inauguration? How much did it cost for the wartime administration's unprecedented move to turn the nation's capital into something akin to an armed fortress, with snipers on rooftops, planes flying overhead, Humvee-mounted anti-aircraft missiles dotting the city, and manholes cemented shut?
***
The NYT reported that in 2005, "the federal government and the District of Columbia spent a combined $115.5 million, most of it for security, the swearing-in ceremony, cleanup and for a holiday for federal workers."

Not to worry - Headlines make for great reading, no need to look into the functioning realities, regardless of the exceptions to the 'rule'.

Teh above list is something of a joke. It's qualities of shabbiness would depend on the believer.

Has Obama said he will release the names of US citizens who are secretly being "watched" by the NSA? Didn't think so.
