So far you have only appeased the Right. Why, I don't know, because they have no more power, and the neo-cons have retreated to their academic holes.

So far you are coming off either as a Clinton-clone or neo-con light.
Those who elected you did not want the status quo continued, they want a major change.

Kucinich and Gravel are widely respected in the Progressive camp. Thier ideas can truly transform America for the better. War-mongers like Gates should be out the door.

Get ideas and input from Kucinich and Gravel - they will give you the guidence you seek.

He is getting the guidance HE is seeking not the guidance you want him to get. He is the American President and not the progressive wing of the Democratic Party President any more then McCain would have been the President of the Republican Wing Nuts. The extremes are just that and not the basis of consensus building.

In summary Wing Nuts on the Republican side are tightened to mcuh to the right and are just to up tight and not flexible. Wing Nuts on the Democratic side are loosened to the left and just not a secure fit for the country. Obama is seeking a nice solid middle ground that keeps us secure and able to move forward.

Obama was stereotyped by both the far left and far right without paying attention to who he had advising him during the campaign. You know I said many a time look at his advisors and you could tell what his presidency would like like. His new National Security Advisor has been advising him throughout the campaign. What people need to realize is that Obama will use American military power as quickly as Bush or McCain. The big difference is he will try diplomacy and build a consensus with other partners and then act in unison and not uniltaterally telling them they need to join us.

As you point out, Obama received tremendous support from "progressive" Democrats, but if he is going to live up to his promises of uniting the country, and finding as non-partisan of a position as possible, why would he seek out those who are already a part of his base, it would seem to me like a bit of a waste of time and effort. It isn't as if Obama has been oblivious of the progressive positions over the last 2 years.

I'm curious, it seems that some folks have inside information about who Obama is talking to and who he isn't. So, since you are privy to who Obama is receiving advise from, perhaps you can tell us why he isn't getting input from Kucinich, who as you recall endorsed him?

My thoughts:

Kucinich --he should at least use his health plan because it's the only one that makes sense money wise.

Gravel -- while some may respect him because of his work in the 70's... I liked him at first but lost all respect for him because he posted on youtube defending palin over trooper-gate. lol

You are obviously a moderate, like I did not already know that. I just wish more people on both sides of the aisle were like you. I may not always agree with you but I know you have thought things through and have good reason to believe what you do (even if you are wrong JK).

I dare say the progressives are going to be greatly disappointed. They were duped. This is one time that I am happy the President lied or should I say misled people into voting for him. Will we have a revolt among the far left and the media? Will we have pressure from both for Obama to move to the far left? Only time will tell but I would say that considering his advisors he is saying adios to the progressives.

Now wait a minute he did not lie or dupe ANYONE. People really on the far left did not vote for Obama. They voted for other people. We ALL knew he wasnt saying he would pull out of the war right away ect WE ALL heard him say he would be reaching across party lines, we ALL said he would be like Clinton. No one with a brain about the real issues thought Obama would be anything but CENTER. Which is STILL CHANGE. The change we are getting now is someone smart and someone on the peoples side. Massive change over the last 8 years.
