I am a lifelong Democrat who is asking all Illinois residents to vote for a Republican in the next governor's race. Governor Quinn is killing this state.

What we need to eliminate or curtail:

The welfare programs. With 54% of all babies born on Medicaid in Illinois there is a serious problem. Let's not forget Healthy Moms and Babies where a huge percentage are Illegals (and where it says immigration status not important).

The unions. Unions over pay in Illinois and are corrupt. My former dirty employer Metra paid uneducated union workers more even if the non union was educated (and usually was). There is something wrong with a mail clerk paid more than a lawyer.

Taxes. We pay too much and it's out of control. Quinn never met a tax increase he didn't like.

So if you like Illinois VOTE REPUBLICAN. I am voting for Bruce Rauner.

Even a good Republican Gov. can't fix decades of bad Democrat policy in a state like IL. I do wish you guys all the luck in the worlds, you've got a big hill to climb.

I would encourage your state to continue to vote Dem, you will get relief far faster if you state fails. Why have republicans just delay the inevitable another 10 years.

We can fix the state if we get a Republican in power. Democrats are ruining this state and all should be in prison.

Your best bet is to leave Illinois. It's beyond saving. They're doing it right in Wisconsin, try the Badger State.

I'm not. I admit I used to vote Democratic until I realized they were crooks which they are. People (and by people I mean Democrats)are really stupid in this state. In my district Jesse Jackson Jr was already facing charges of corruption yet the stupid Democrats STILL voted for him. I mean there was a third party candidate who was a Democrat running as an independent yet the moochers voted for Jackson.

Rauner is not the answer for Illinois and is far less of a populist than he tries to make folks believe. Quinn needs to be inspired to continue pension reform.

Illinois had 24 years straight of Republican governors recently to get the place in the mess it is.

As long as the Democrats refuse to take on the teachers union, Illinois is bound to flounder.

Madison, WI or Indianapolis are far more livable for the middle class and everybody else, as are Rochester & Minneapolis.

Hopefully we've learned our lesson about voting for Democrats from IL when it comes to presidential elections....just say no.

I do feel for you, IL. Yeah, some of the guys are in prison, but a lot more of them should be. Sadly, it seems there's little critical thinking from voters these days, regardless of who they are voting for.
