Republicans,

Let's assume that I am a typical Independent voter. I'm evaluating the candidates and I'm trying to decide why I should chose one side or the other. I have observed that Republicans looked horribly bad when Bush was in office. Looking for further evidence that this might've been a fluke, I see nothing but obstructionist tactics from the Right without any real solutions to the problems. It's been 11 years and I've seen nothing but failed policies and obstruction from the Right that led to more failure. Why should I support the Republican agenda in 2012?

Anyone who thinks that putting a republican in office right now and have things immediately get better has been drinking way to much. Presidents past, present, and future will only do what thier party and highest contributors tell them to do. Since republicans are run by big oil and the Koch brothers you can expect the enviroment to suffer and the rich get richer and poor and middleclass get poorer.

The list seems endless: education will suffer, the infrastructure will continue to crumble, health care will be more expensive, there will be no attempt to create jobs, we will become more isolationist, etcetera ad nauseum.

Essentially what it has come down to is you vote for the party that you see as the lesser of two evils. For every anti-republican response you get, you'll get an equally earnest anti-democrat response.

We might reduce the deficit. That's why. We've gone so far the other way under Obama, that it's worth a try, even for diehard liberals.

Simple - Obama's a Democrat and we need to fire him. Badly.

You have to open your eyes to see it.

In this post, as in others of yours, you make things up and refuse to address the issues and policies. Have someone explain to you what Ron Pauls policies mean and how the outcome is different than the failed policies of the status quo which you support. Course you have to stop playing the race card first when discussing Ron Pauls policies. It's fraudulent.

People, especially Democrats, often use the word 'obstructionist' as if it is perjorative but it really isn't. It just takes a moments reflection to realize that it can be good or bad, depending on what is being obstructed. The Framers designed our system to be inherently obstructionist -friendly. Making it easy to obstruct, and difficult to pass legislation was a major reason for the bicameral. If a bad idea got thru one house, it could be stopped in the other, and if it got thru both it could be vetoed by the President. And even then, at least after Marbury vs. Madison, it could be tossed by the courts.

Well if we're talking about another establishment statist Republican, I would have a hard time making that sale to you. However if we're talking about a true limited government candidate who is for peace and sound money that sale becomes much easier. Simply put, if you want to save this nation you should consider voting for that candidate.
