Jonathan Martin in Politico has identified what he thinks is a subtle shift in the RYAN/romney attack, introduced at the RNC.

Instead of hammering Obama, which only works with the base, they will express how DISAPPOINTED they are in Obama, and try to peel off independents, who have proved to be immune to the "Obama is a Kenyan Socialist" crapola, and are stubbornly hanging tough for Obama in the polls:

Obama's new challenge: Disappointment - Jonathan Allen - POLITICO.com

It goes like this: "Gee, ya know what? We were ALL inspired by Obama. Hell, some of us even VOTED for him. We hoped and prayed he would succeed, for the sake of the nation. But, Obama failed to live up to his promise. It's OK to make a change"

That RYAN/romney are advocating a "change" back to the policies that got us into this mess? Never mind that!

That RYAN/Romney are IGNORING the actual history, that the GOP opposed and thwarted Obama with all their might from Day One? Never mind that either!!!

That it is dishonest, disingenuous, and insidious??? Never mind!!!

The sad part is, Martin thinks it just might work!

Weird....you mean the catchphrase from their convention based on a sound byte taken completely out of context didnt sell them as a runaway success to the American people?

Didn't we all hope that life would get better? Or is your mindset that Republicans thought they didn't get their guy in so they hope that it all goes to hell? And yes, people are very disappointed. There is a huge difference in what he said he would do and what he actually did do.

So your take is to continue with Obama who policies made it worse. 32 million people unemployed, welfare jumped by 40%, GDP anemic, consumer confidence is very low, higher prices, apologizing to the world, oh the list goes on.

The part that you don't get is even though the left blame Bush, Bush and Romney are different and will have different policies. Also remember that it was unfortunate that we were attacked on Bush's watch but we all expected him to fight back. If he had not what would the left say? They would have a fit.

Also remember it was Bush who warned congress 17 times about the coming housing crash but he was ignored Bush, Senator Obama also ignored it and Congress continued with their subsidize, balloon, crash policies. Its sheer blindness on your part.

And you continue to ignore history and for everyone to see. Democrats had full control majority from January 2009 till November 2010 of his presidency and Obama's policies were pushed through. You are now enjoying the result of Obamas policies.

No, democrats had control for a few months between Norm Coleman conceeding the election to Al Franken and Ted Kennedy dying.

They did not have a filibuster proof majority prior to that, so any bill they pushed through that the GOP didnt like...they could simply obstruct it.

Obama is your shining star, you believe anything he says as if it were word from God above. You refuse to look closer than his speeches even though you have been fooled once. Not everyone is as easy to be fooled the second time.

If you could crawl up Obama's you know what you would and Obama knows he has these type of followers. Obama knows that he has bought voters and your a shining example.

Actually I think most independent moderates like me agree totally with this. No self respecting American really wanted this mess, wanted a president who was totally in over his head, even though many feared that this might be the case given Obama's lack of experience. Speaking for myself, I hoped against all hope that he would succeed, because this is my country that I love!

I was an independent then I started catching glimpses of both sides.. As time went on I moved right because the left thinking is actually kind of bizarre.

The President is not as nuts as he may seem at times. He knows very well that he spends too much, how can he not. His whole mission is to transform the U.S. not into a Big Government country, but a Huge Government country and I don't agree with that. I believe in spending less than you bring in. I believe that people who can should.

So rather than actually acknowledge you being incorrect and that the Democratic party actually only had majority for a few months....you just typed this nonsense.

Great Job!

I am still an independent. I don't depend on the government to send me money or pay for anything I need. That means my vote is not bought from either party. That means I still have control unless the government takes it away. I believe the this is exactly what the Democrats want, they want me to depend on the government so they have more control over me.

Republican believe in less dependence on the government even though it means they have less power of the people. Less dependence means they have to earn the peoples vote. I will vote Republican.

Whomever won in 2008 was going to be the fall guy/gal for what came before.

Was the 2008 GOP ticket the best the GOP could do or was it strategic forfeiture?
