I think that was a big reason why he was picked in 08. He has that tough guy blue collar ride the train appeal that lower/middle class whites like that I don't think Obama could portray. Just speculation though.

To an extent. Biden was a well established and respected member of congress, also a real blue collar, roll up your sleeves and get to work northeastern democrat that is a good VP and fit for Obama.
I think he's done a good job and no need to replace him.
