Housing options in EP are plentiful, now whether you want to live there or not is a different story.

yes.. i have done that many times before and had very good luck with it. i am thinking that maybe i might consider doing it again but i REALLY want to make sure i get an apartment with a southwest facing mountain view. i have been living out in central Texas for the last 3 years and i REALLY miss the mountains and the desert which is why i am moving back west.

i want to make sure i can enjoy the sunsets and the desert. lol

i am hesitant to rent a place before i see it because if its not right... then i'll have to move all over again
i guess thats not really a problem.... just a pain in the ass. lol

i am thinking maybe i can find a guest house to stay in for a week.... maybe i'll get lucky and find a place right away.

i'm thinking about all options right now.
thanks for your comments

OMG just saw your post about the roaches . LOL
I left New Orleans for that reason many years ago.... after a while.... i just couldnt take it anymore.
but i dont understand why they are in El Paso.... its a desert. I can understand the gulf coast.... moist and damp... lots of humidity.....they LOVE that ! but the desert ? i dont get it.

i didnt know this. so? are they all over the city? or only when a place is dirty ?
in New Orleans.... they are in the finest establishments.... you cant EVER get rid of them.... because
its the climate.

i sure hope thats not the case with El Paso.

I haven't seen any of your standard apartment/restaurant roaches here. In Juarez where it's more urban you see giant/slower roaches but they are more solitary & not like an infestation. We're on the west side & spray inside & out once year - but that's more for scorpions and other desert creepy crawlies than roaches.

One of the breeding/nesting places for cockroaches in El Paso is inside rock walls. Rock walls, as everyone knows, are a common feature everywhere in El Paso.

My childhood home in Kern Place was infested with them after many years of irrigating the garden my mom loved to maintain. The house had rock wall both front and back. When the folks finally moved to a new place on the east side, mom wisely kept small turtles in her yard and had no problems with roaches once the turtles began multiplying. She fed the turtles cat food and had no problems with roaches poaching the food. Too bad we didn't think of turtles when they lived in Kern Place.

PS: I'm referring to the big fat roaches, not the tiny ones usually found by the jillions in tenement complexes in some cities.

We've had desert rock turtles in our yard, they hang around for a few days then move on.

I don't really know, and I have no idea how many she had the grandkids paint names on over the years. She gave them nail polish to use as the paint. They were in the dozens. I just assume they were ordinary box turtles - greyish green shells. Largest I recall seeing was about six inches in diameter (shell).
