So I am about 90% sure that I will be moving back to the great state of Texas. (soon to be country ) But here lies the predicament. I will be heading out there about the 16th so that I can get registered for all of my classes try and find a job before school starts, and I am meeting with a Marine officer recruiter on the 20th. (I am already enlisted) and i will be checking into my new unit.

So here is the question, are there any really cheap places that I can stay that are pretty close to campus, or just all around cheap? it doesn't have to be the hilton. Or maybe is there just a safe part of town that I can park my car on, and I can sleep in my car. I have a forester so it is pretty roomy. Ok that is all for now.

Nick

I would think some of the motels near UTEP would be pretty cheap or depending on how long maybe there's an apartment nearby that you could sublet.

Walmart let's the RV people stay in it's parking lot - I don't know about someone sleeping in a car but I know someone who was doing that in Florida Walmart parking lots. Is it just for a few days?

I believe that the Mesa Inn (very '60s original) and Coronado Motel just north of UTEP are less than $30/night - but are not the sort of place I'd stay at with my family. Coronado Motel might have lost their license & shut down recently.

The hot tub holds over 50 people.‎ - A TripAdvisor Member‎ - Dec 22, 2008
I stay at the Mesa whenever I travel to El Paso. From the pastel color sheme to the shag carpeting, it never fails to bring back fond memories of my childhood. And the hot tub will definately hold 68 people. ...‎

Mesa is ok‎ - A TripAdvisor Member‎ - Feb 16, 2004
This is a no frills facility. It is clean and has a nice pool but a Hilton it is not. I have stayed there many times but my wants are simply a clean bed and linen, somewhat quiet, and a nice pool. ...‎

Don't Stay Here!‎ - A TripAdvisor Member‎ - Mar 18, 2003
It sounded to good to be true- $25/night. Well you get what you pay for. Red and orange shag carpet, a tv older than me (22yrs), and a toilet with no lid. The place smelled of burning insence an the bed looked like a 500 pound ...‎

Thought the Coronado closed. I heard the Warren Inn is the other flophouse of choice.
