I read a collapse story during wartime Bosnia. Gold was useless.

Ammo, Food, Alchohol and Bic lighters were the Gold for over a yr.

One Bic Lighter bought a hooker for 2 hrs., the hooker was usually a mom trying to feed her kids, and she could trade the lighter for 2 cans of food.
Well good, then stock up on BIC lighters! What was the name of that book? I like to occasionally read fiction.

Take note that Navistar has made this decision to transition to natural gas as they are threatened by punitive action. "Navistar makes the announcement as the Environmental Protection Agency prepares to fine it $1,900 per engine later this month for failing to meet federal emissions regulations. The company has been using credits to comply with the standards but could run out by the end of the month, according to a report in Transport Topics."

Here is a case where the government is actively forcing a private company to do something good for the United States!

Ah, you cannot even stand behind what you posted? How very weasel like. The haters of the world often hide in the shadows. Was it about Israel? Is Israel not a Jewish state? Did you not post a typical anti-semitic comment?

And your response is certainly not a denial.

I've watched the slow demise of independent (both thinking and acting) Americans who work to achieve their own success in life. The younger generation will be the major voting block after the boomers kick the bucket and, after watching the following clip, it scares me. Thankfully, I won't be around to see what happens to this country but, in the meantime, I have to sit by and watch. I viewed the following on another board - as I do not have cable channels - and found this report very enlightening. I just hope this mindset doesn't span across the entire country, although I doubt it.

Studies on the decline of Sperm counts since WW II

From biomedical statistics, it seems that we may be on the verge of extinction. Over the last half century since World War II, human sperm counts in industrialized countries have dropped 50% on average, and are predicted to be near zero within the next few generations.

Expert: Sperm Counts Falling Around the World
By Maggie Fox, Health and Science Correspondent
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Modern living is hitting men right where it hurts the most, with sperm counts falling more quickly than anyone thought, U.S. researchers said Monday.

Experts who set out to dispel fears of falling sperm counts found they were even lower than had been reported. "I think this study will change the debate about sperm decline from 'if' to 'why'," said Shanna Swan, chief of the reproductive epidemiology section at the California Department of Health Services, who led the study. Swan's group re-analyzed the 61 studies. "Overall, in Europe and the United States there is a strong and significant decline," she told Reuters. There could be regional variations, which would account for the New York findings and similar findings in Seattle and Finland, she added in an interview. The National Institutes of Health agreed. "Their analysis of data collected from 1938 to 1990 indicates that sperm densities in the United States have exhibited an average annual decrease of 1.5 million sperm per milliliter of collected sample, or about 1.5 percent per year," the NIH said in a statement. "Those in European countries have declined at about twice that rate (3.1 percent per year)."

The market will keep going up and then speculators will bid up oil prices and costs will spike again- leading to more problems.

Not surprising at all. The Public school system indoctrinates these positions. All it shows me, is that the brainwashing techniques work marvelously, and this country is screwed.

It's funny most of the "independent Americans who work to achieve" DEPEND on easily accessible army of the disposable wage units under total control of the private entities (i.e. Independent Americans who work to achieve). Yet, a tiny glimpse of understanding that "private tyranies" (i.e. Independent Americans) should be counterbalanced in order to avoid Banana Republic scenario you perceive as a "threat" to "Independence". You remind me those Southern Slave Owners bemoaning the end of liberty in 1864.

Something doesn't add up in your "vision". Public education worked tirelessly to prepare army of the dumbed down, obedient & pusified wage units, just the way "Independent Americans" like it. Now public education is being blamed for what? It did excellent job.
