So we just moved here...its cold and wet so I figured fleas wud not be a prob.....we got advantix...which I love and works well..we treated before leaving...and got her and they were crawling w fleas...so we treated again...and we see no fleas but they r still all itchy...I assume the fleas r biting them then dying off....but they still suffer...we did take them to the dog park...I'm sure they picked up fleas there....guess ill make appointment with vet to see what I can do for them...they need to run and dog park is only place....I thought fleas were worse in warm areas...but its worse here I guess heat is like a beacon in the night to them....I never hadc to treat my dogs in winter in so cal. Feel bad for them.

I'm sorry, and I don't mean to sound rude, but your post is so unintelligible that it's extremely hard to make sense of what you're asking for. From what I gather, you're wondering if fleas in the Pacific Northwest are worse than Southern California???

Give your dogs a bath with allergy shampoo often until the itching/scratching stops. Some dogs are very allergic to flea bites. The vet may be able to tell you what to use or give you a shampoo to use.

My groomer (have a cocker spaniel) will tell me if she finds flea's on him..We do not have a problem with them except for once or twice a year..A good grooming by a pro and a flea meds should solve the problem..The weather up here doesn't seem to matter..In other parts of the country where is cold or high elevation they do freeze out..
Good luck and welcome to the PNW

Dry air like dry electric heat in winter will cause animals to itch!

Please look into Diatomaceous earth food grade. I use it regularly and swear by it. I've used it from CA to NC!! Each to his/her own but this stuff won't kill anything but the fleas, ticks and worms! We've used it in our rescues in CA and now in NC!!!! Finally the word is spreading!

When I was in Michigan I used Frontline. It worked as it disrupts their life cycle. There are sellers on Amazon who sell it at very reasonable prices. I still use it but just for ticks. There are no fleas where I live.

The PNW is terrible for fleas. Lewis and Clark wrote about the infestations in abandoned Indian dwellings (log huts) that made it impossible to use the huts for camping. When I was in Michigan I learned that they were active through the cold winters as they simply stayed on animals. Humidity is the friend of fleas. That's what determines whether they're a problem whether it's hot or cold.

Fleeas are miserable and potentially lethal.
