I can tell you one employer who isn't closed is the poor Amazon delivery guy! I just got a delivery and tried to give him a tip for making it through this awful weather, and he said no. It's not like I knew it would be like this when I placed the order of course! But I need this stuff for the PTO fundraiser this week.

We still have power, internet and cable so I'm able to keep working - but our lights have flickered numerous times so I won't be surprised if we lose power. Trees .are down all over the metro area.

The snow isn't horrible it's the wind.

We have some major trees in our backyard, and this wind is making me nervous because if one comes down it will fall into the house. I will be glad when this is over.

So do you think the patio furniture flew and took out the fence or did the fence panel go first and the patio furniture followed?

Poor patio furniture out alone in this storm. I posted a reward for them on nextdoor.

Be careful out there, everyone! A summary:
Bomb cyclone hits metro area, conditions equivalent to Category 1 hurricane, weather service says
Quote:
Snow was falling at the rate of 2 inches per hour and winds gusts hit 80 mph at Denver International Airport as a powerful bomb cyclone swept through Colorado on Wednesday, leaving tens of thousands without power and forcing massive road closures across the state.

The conditions are equivalent to a Category 1 hurricane, the National Weather Service said.

. . .As of 11:45 a.m., 111,098 Xcel Energy customers have lost power, according to Xcel Energy.
All Denver International Airport runways closed, 1,300 flights canceled and Peña Boulevard blocked by crashes
Quote:
All Denver International Airport runways are closed and both directions of Peña Boulevard to and from the airport are blocked by multiple crashes after 1,359 flights in and out of the airport already were canceled due to Wednesday’s bomb cyclone weather event.

“As of 1:30 p.m., all runways are closed but the terminal and concourses are open,” according to a DIA tweet.

Peña Boulevard is blocked by crashes and airport crews are working with Denver police to clear all the accidents so traffic can pass. . .

Whoa! I started typing a response to this and our power went out. Came back on, went out again. It seems OK now, but I guess we're among the lucky ones, as some are without power, per the TV. Anyway, DH had a dentist appointment at 9. We went in a little early and the rain changed to snow as we drove over there. They were moving people up and said they'd close if it got bad. I have a feeling the office closed within an hour.

Pot roast in the crock pot. Hopefully the power stays on so I can get it cooked!
My office closed at 11 as well but luckily I was already scheduled to work from home. I don't think it should have been opened as well. They usually shut down when all the school districts close. Speaking of school districts both Douglas and Jefferson have announced they are closed tomorrow.

We lost our for about 20 seconds around 11:30. It was kind of odd.

9News is reporting that a CSP trooper was killed today after being hit on I-76 while assisting a stranded driver. Honestly, this just infuriates me. Why do people think it’s appropriate to go out in these conditions?

wow, my workplace is on a delayed start tomorrow - it must be REALLY bad out there! They closed early today but I was already working from home so it didn't matter, but I don't remember a delayed start the whole time I've been working there
