What the hell happened to the rents in Denver? I moved away in 2013 and have looked at moving back, and wow I can't find any apartments below $700 that don't include a roommate. Is there a housing crisis going on?

The only thing I saw close was a used RV on a lot for $600 but I'd have to pay for propane.

So am I looking at $1k and up for a studio in Denver? Anything in the metro area works for me. I'm looking at Centennial, Aurora, Lakewood, Littleton, Westminster, Thornton, etc.

I just cannot get over the rent costs in Denver.

Yes, the Denver housing market as gone crazy in the last several years. A house I sold in 2011 has almost doubled in value.

https://www.padmapper.com/apartments/denver-co says the median rent for 1 bed apt is about $1481/mo.
They do show a few studios around town for $700-800

The word is out everyone is moving to Colorado. Once you leave it is hard to get back in unless you are affluent, upper middle class, get a great job offer, etc. etc. But Paonia is still an ok place to settle.

This is the case. The last time I rented was back in 2013 and even then the rent was getting ridiculous. I have a friend that just rented a place at Logan and 17th and is paying over $1,600 for a two bedroom.

Welcome back!

Any city that has a good economy and/or quality of life has skyrocketing rents. I'll never be able to afford living by myself, and I'm one of the top income earners for my age bracket. Feudalism is back in style.
