The key to warmth is scarf, gloves and perhaps a hat. We moved to MN from Fl and after my 1st winter i returned the huge down coat Lands End - because I never used it. Like someone else said - 0 without alot of humidity is much more bearable than 35 with it - much more!

That's an overnight low. How much time do you plan on spending outside at 4am?

And it was 56 on Thursday the 6th (during Normal waking hours).

Dec and Jan are the 2 coldest months here (averages), with an AVERAGE high temp of 45 degrees.... that hits at about 2pm. For every 14 degree day, theres a few 55 degree days. And an AVERAGE low of 15 degrees, which, again, means that for every -3 low there's a couple 25 degree lows.

Real life means that at 7~8am, you'll be headed out at the coldest part of the day. Noon to 3 it's going to be within a few degrees of the high for the day, 5~6pm it'll drop about 10 dress from the high and Feel colder as the sun will be gone but you won't see the low again till after midnight.

Yes, really. There are plenty of weather stats on the web you can look at.

Mike nailed it earlier in this thread. Without humidity 0 really doesn't feel that cold. Last weekend at Loveland with the wind it must have been close to 20 below if not more but we managed just fine.
