I am moving to Dallas metor area from WI. I would like to know the safe areas to live where you can walk with no fear even in late night.

I have explore the area and here is what I found out so far, I am not sure what I found is correct or not

1) Irving -- Safe to live in area Valley Ranch association area. Mostly safe for family and safe to walk around. ZIP - 75063

2) Plano - I liked the apt next to Willow bend Mall (75093). How is the area ? Is it safe for the family ?

3) Richardson - Have heard that apts on/around Renner Road (I guess close to UTD) are safe - May be zip code 75080.

Please let me know what all areas are safe to live in Dallas Metro area. I don't have any kids and hence schools don't matter. I don't own a house and interested in nice quite and safe apts. I can go max upto 800-850 for one bedroom apt. It is nice if it has large Indian population.

Thanks for all your help.

Believe it or not, Plano actually has a big problem with drugs. I guess the kids borrow the money from their parents to by marijuana or whatever drug they see.

From what I've read and know about Dallas and environs, it's crucial to tell them where you will be working and how long a commute you can tolerate. It's a HUGE area and has many spots that might suit, depending on these 2 answers.

My work location is mostly from home and hence I am not worried about commute. This is the reason I am looking for a neighbourhood where we can walk around in the evening/night.

The apartments around Willowbend Mall would be extremely safe. That is a very nice, upscale area.

Willow Bend is a very upscale neighborhood--it's very safe and you can walk around with no fear, other than getting run over by a car. But you'll have that problem no matter what--Dallas isn't very pedestrian friendly.

Most of the wealthy areas do have issues with drugs--rich kids can buy more of them and more expensive ones. So if that's a concern, keep that in mind.

Honestly there are a LOT of safe areas in Dallas, and a lot of not-so-safe areas. It really depends on what sort of things you like to do and want to be near.
