Several veritable experts have predicted that 25-50% of Americans will contract this. If the 3% fatality rate holds, that will be 2-5 million people. I hope that's not the case (obviously), and the possibility of it makes the "but the economy..." argument completely senseless to me.

This is good local information. Anyone who has jury duty between now & May 8 won’t need to show up for it.

Yeah I figured the one week cancellation of school was only a starting point. I suspect my kids are done for the year and just don’t know it yet. I have a high school senior who is supposed to be graduating this May. I wonder what’s going to happen to people in her situation?
The wife told me that at her hospital they have cancelled indefinitely the clinical rotations of nursing students who need that to graduate. This is going to wreak havoc for so many, but I guess it has to be done.

If I can get an exemption on paying all bills for the next 8-12 weeks, then I could see your point of view. I doubt my landlord will waive rent payments. I need an economy.

As a child, I would have been open to a school year ending in March. I think a lot of children will be liking this, except for the strange circumstances that it is occurring under. However, I am thinking that children will be feeling the stress and anxiety from parents who are either going to be layoff victims and/or lose a lot of $$ in the stock market. That can't be a healthy dynamic.

I would think City and County Jails will do the same very soon.

Most school districts will be moving to on-line so not really ending the school year. It will be difficult for many families on many different levels.
