Plano has the huge Baylor hospital. The other two cities would most likely transport there as well.

By far, the best trauma center and ER in DFW is at Parkland in Dallas.

I can only speak about Baylor Plano from personal experience. Great ER experiences there, two unfortunately. Also had one occasion to use the adjacent Heart ER with good experience. My spouse has complicated medical conditions, living in Houston she would only go to TMC ER. But our experience here matches TMC in Houston ER. A benefit of Baylor is a DT specialist (internal Medicine or orthopedic etc MD) can easily access your records from Baylor Plano and monitor your progress as needed. In an emergency, god forbide, we will go back to Baylor Plano comfortable we are getting top notch care with access to our personal MD's. Experience with nursing staff at Baylor Plano was top notch too. Honestly it blew me away how caring and exceptionally competent the staff was.

Baylor, Texas Presbyterian Plano, Medical center of Plano and Children's Medical Center-Plano Campus are top notch. Medical center of Plano has an advance level ER and they are adding another free standing ER.

Plano has more doctor's offices, labs, diagnostics, smaller surgical facilities and dental area covered as well. One of the reason, people prefer it over other suburbs because medical facilities are major city level and we all know that seconds count in emergency situations. Dallas's Parkland, Children's, Medical City and UTSW aren't far either and helicopter services are great as well.

None of those cities have a Level I Trauma Center. The local ones are all in Dallas: Baylor, Parkland, and Children's Medical center. Of course, all are only a helicopter ride away from these cities.

Plano of course is well equipped to deal with almost anything and situated to benefit from Dallas facilities as well. Careflite is leaving Frisco for Sherman as they say that Frisco people can drive to Plano or Dallas on highways but you know bad traffic can be at rush hours. I never lived more than 5 minutes away from ER and never will.

There are two types of services provided at an ER.

One is simple triage and GP type medicine.

The other is trauma care. Most ERs do not have trauma surgeons standing around waiting to save your life. They are on call. All the Plano hospitals mentioned here have on call surgeons.

Whether you live or die in a car accident or sudden illness comes down the the EMTs and other bystanders that are around when you go down. A number of fire departments have former combat medics and 18Ds on their staff that respond, Plano is good but there are other depts that are much better in this department.

Or, how less dumb you are in getting yourself in when things go wrong. Men are notoriously stupid in this regard. And women often ignore the signs of a heart attack.

Medical Center of Plano has Level 2 Trauma Center. Texas Presbyterian has Level 3, Baylor has Cardiac ER. These are three that I've experienced over the years with family and friends. Medics are essential but ASAP getting to a good physician or surgeon in a well equipped hospital is simply priceless.
