Anyone know can you open enroll in Lewisville ISD school district? (Meaning if we live in Marcus High district, is there any way you can go to Flower Mound High).

Google the district's web site and check out the transfer policy
usually within a district you can apply for an inner-district transfer in the spring for the coming school year--there is deadline--sometimes you do it in the summer

there is magic number for enrollment and if the school is close to that, there are fewer inner district transfers allowed
sometimes districts only allow them when students need to take a class that is only offered at one high school not in their zone--say someone wanted to be an IB student and the zoned high school did not offer IB program...
or say someone wanted to take Mandarin or a special audio visual class--sometimes the schedule works so that a student can drive over for that one class but if the time/distance won't allow--there can be transfer...

note the addendum at the bottom about middle school students wanting to take orchestra

http://www.lisd.net/info/board/0708_summary/081108summ.pdf (broken link)
this is older school board minutes agenda
note the info about student transfer appeals
2 of 3 were upheld meaning they probably denied the transfer request and the students appealed and lost the decision so they did not get to move...

Garland ISD is the only one I know of in Metroplex that allows open transfer--where you just sign up for the school you want to attend--
think all the others have a process of application to adhere to
sometimes people can't get a transfer--just depends on district/school/reason...

I don't believe so. But neither is a bad school.

Edit - my wife teaches in Flower Mound and she says LISD doesn't allow it unless a parent works at the school or FMHS offers something Marcus doesn't, like orchestra or whatnot.

I don't know why this was moved to Dallas from FTW thread--
there are plenty of people in FTW area who have knowledge of Lewisville ISD

I don't think Lewisville schools has open enrollment, but Marcus is a very good high school, unless Flower Mound offers something that is important to a student that isn't offered at Marcus there really would be very little reason to want a transfer.

I'm a grad of FMHS--I know of one student who was able to transfer from a Marcus area middle school to a Flower Mound HS area middle school due to the orchestra program, but otherwise I think it is a no go.

Though, I do know one girl who transferred from FMHS to Lewisville HS (lord knows why)--had something to do with "fitting in" issues, but I don't know any other specifics.
