It looks as though they are going to treat it as a homicide until the cause of death can be determined. Basically, they don't know what happened to them but they do know that young, healthy families don't drop dead like that.

I still think murder suicide is the most logical answer. Remember the moms who drove all their adopted kids off the cliff after drinking the poison kool-aid? They had a happy social media presence as well.

One of them could've been having an affair, one didn't like the move from Bay area, one was overwhelmed with guilt because of financial issues buying all the rentals then not able to collect the rent, they joined a cult and sacrificed themselves to their immortal next life on the other side of the veil...

As mentioned above it's being treated as a homicide only because they still don't know the cause. Must be standard operating procedure whenever cause is unknown for the time being.

The bodies showed no signs of physical wounds. Until we find the results of the toxicology report which could take weeks, don't think we'll get an answer.

If there's no physical trauma present on the bodies, no suicide note or things of that nature the best guess now is something they ingested or breathed in.

Why would they kill the dog, too? Do suicidal/homicidal people usually kill their pets along with their family members?

The article said they were found "near" the hiking trail. Could they have come across someone (or several someones) who murdered the entire family? It seems far-fetched, but they could conceivably have restrained them one by one and smothered them. That would leave no trauma on the body or tell-tale evidence.

Thousands of people have suddenly disappeared in national parks leaving no trace behind. Most are found again, but some, like these folks, do not fit into the usual list of cause of death in a national park. It seems like they all just left their bodies without any disturbance and got beamed up and out, even their dogs too.

To this day and after 40-50+ years they still have never figured out or caught anyone doing the Cattle Mutilation's across the US.

Every week we hear about someone dying in the National Parks. Usually they blame it on "Heat Stroke".

But who knows. The Govt has finally come out and admitted there are a lot of unknown Flying Objects they have no explanation for that no one on our planet has the technology to do.

Maybe the reasons are not from this planet.

If they were found near the trail is it possible that they had stepped off the trail and gotten disoriented, started panicking and overexerted themselves trying to find the trail again?

People who are freaking out and thinking that they are lost might not hydrate properly thinking that they have to conserve water.

From the pictures of the trail it really does seem pretty well marked so if they stepped off of it, they almost had to do it intentionally. Maybe they found a place to have a picnic off to the side of the trail and then ate or drank something tainted?

How close to each other were they when they were found? I hope they can speed up the toxicology reports to find out what the heck happened to them. It's scary.

Has anyone on the forum checked if they are on Facebook, or other social media sites? Could be a clue there. I'm wondering if they were a member of some of a cult or weird religion.
