When Jaxon Strong was born with half of his brain and skull missing, his doctors predicted that he'd have just days to live. But one year later, this little guy has truly defied the odds.
I know some people that have a kid like that, its a complete vegetable that cannot walk, talk, or eat on its own. I think keeping children like this alive is actually kind of cruel, mom and dad may take care of it as long as they can, then they become a ward of the state cared for by minimum wage employees in dilapidated old hospitals.
It took me for ever to come up with the right combination of trite expressions... I'm happy for...I express my support... not that anything that I write or say has the slightest worth to either the child or its, better yet, the child's parents just so I could say, "I fail to see where the miracle part comes in."
Aren't miracles generally considered positive things? This kid is never going to talk, know other people, live on their own or do any of the things humans do.
All I can say is I hope massive amounts of money aren't being spent to keep this vegetable alive.
It's an extreme coping mechanism by people facing a heartbreaking situation. This problem becomes the CAUSE and their reason for living. While I understand it I look ahead and don't see an upside for anyone. Eventually they will have to grieve his death, or perhaps the death of their relationships and their own lives as they give it all up for the CAUSE. And best case/worst case the child does not die but the CAUSE does when the parents do. Others will pitch in here and there (with current donations, etc.) but it won't last forever since nobody else will give up things in perpetuity for the CAUSE. I've heard of this exact scenario playing out with other kids with other issues and while everyone rallies in the early days, and praises are heaped, it's never sustainable.
In the cave man days they would have smashed the baby's head in with a rock, which was a lot less cruel.
