By our president elevating Sharpton to advisor status, it gave Sharpton the importance needed to further his interests in promoting riots and other disturbances across the nation. It's hard to believe that Sharpton has been given such power. It's a tragedy of the highest order.
OMG This would have to be the stupidest thing he has ever done. This is not in the best interest of the country.
Protestors in Ferguson, burnt the church, where father of Michael Brown, was baptized.
Great country, which were founded on IDEA and with help of Holy Scripture. Great country which opened the door for every vagabond soul. Now, destroyed by this souls. People forget about power of Bible and about our ancestors traditions. And the government, government which responsibility is to protect citizens, now, forget about that.
The majority of the media's talking points focus on a while police officer killing an unarmed black man. IF M. Brown had been Caucasian and Darren Wilson were African-American, would anyone have been in an uproar about the situation?
Michael Brown chose to:
- Rob the convenience store and manhandle the clerk
- Walk down the middle of the roadway
- Ignore Officer Wilson's instruction to get off the road and move to the sidewalk
- Walk over to Officer Wilson's patrol car, reach through the window and hit the officer twice in the face
- Run away from the officer
- Turn around and begin charging at the officer
- Refuse to drop to the ground when instructed several times by the officer
- Reach under his shirt (as though he had a firearm)
- Continue charging in a threatening manner toward the officer
The incident is nothing unique; it may occur numerous times on any given day/night in many areas across the country, by people of all ethic groups. HOWEVER, since the officer is white and the perp was black, it is now tagged as a racial issue and the victim, Michael Brown, was killed by a white officer because white officers can't wait to shoot and kill black people.
Yes, this isn't about Michael Brown's death at all. If Michael Brown had been shot by another thug, there would be very little media coverage. Heck, even if he had been shot by a black police officer, it wouldn't have gone beyond local news. However, because a white police officer kills a black person, it's a national news story. Unfortunately, in this country, the racism angle that the media tries to cram down our throats sells. IMO it was not a white vs. black incident. It was a police officer vs. criminal event. These events are not rare at all. In fact, they happen everyday and everywhere in America between cops and criminals of various ethnic backgrounds. Why the national media felt a need to sensationalize this incident, other than financial reasons, is beyond me.
I have to say I hate how this whole situation has been handled not only by the media, but by the decision-makers in Ferguson. It was stupid to announce that they were going to bring in the National Guard. That coupled with the delayed verdict just inferred that there would be no indictment and that it was expected that the citizens of Ferguson were going to riot. It was also sad that so many people at the protest had nothing better to do than stand outside in the snow all day and wait for the verdict. It seems like people should have jobs and that there are more productive things to do. Anyway, they made them wait until evening for the verdict. I'm sure they were angry about that and that added fuel to the fire. It's much easier to commit crimes at night as well.
It would be interesting to see what would've happened if there would've been a murder verdict. Would there still have been an unrest? Given the unsound logic of a few of the protesters, I'm thinking so. They wanted the verdict as a scapegoat, but I think these people would've have rioted and looted regardless simply because that was the expectation. Many of the protesters say it wasn't about the verdict, yet many went crazy after the verdict was announced. I actually think that protesting is valid. There are some legitimate injustices for the African American community in Ferguson. The killing of Michael Brown wasn't one of them though. If Brown was squeaky clean, the protesters would have a legitimate gripe. No one alleges he was an innocent bystander here.
An unrest can bring positive change in the long term. There were a few strides made in Los Angeles after the Rodney King riots, for example i.e. better police relations with the community, emergence of Koreatown. However, it's stupid to destroy your own community. Instead of rioting and looting, the people in Ferguson should try to make it a better place to live now by building homes, planting gardens, and educating its citizenry to make sure another Michael Brown incident doesn't happen again. It seems easy enough to get people to gather for a protest. How about getting people together to work on something positive that will yield immediate positive results that are designed to uplift rather than tear down.
btw, this country was NOT founded on "holy scripture".
This country was founded by deists.
Don't re-write history.
2ndly speaking of people motivated by "holy scripture", do you mean like those Westboro freaks?
These people? Obviously the looters and rioters. It can be left up to you to determine what race or creed is primarily involved.
