Good to know you were able to repair yours, RD5050. I had the same problem with my Vizio a few years back. First it worked, then it didn't. Back and forth I went until the last time it happened. It was the straw that broke the camel's back. My fix was quicker than yours. It went to Goodwill. I bought a Samsung and haven't had a bit of trouble since. No more Vizio TVs for me.

I fully agree.

No more VIZIO's for me either! My next TV will not be a VIZIO.

I've owned lots of brands of TVs over the years, and never had one whose IR Sensor stopped working until now.

I feel VIZIO should have acknowledged their problem with their IR Sensors once people started reporting problems with their remote controls, and VIZIO should have offered a free replacement IR Sensor Circuit Board to anyone who requested one.

Yes, acknowledging there was a problem would have been nice on their part. Had they done that I might have a better opinion of the company but no more. And seeing that there is actually a youtube video dedicated to repairing this defect shows that it isn't isolated to just a few televisions. Always check those reviews before buying and not on their website. Those are biased.

Can you please do a powercycle for me?

1- Power off TV (Skip if needed)
2- Unplug TV from outlet
3- Press and hold in the power button on the side of the TV for 30 seconds (while it is unplugged from the wall)
4- Release the power button
5- Plug in the TV
6- Power the TV back on
7- Remove the batteries from the remote. With the batteries removed, press every button once. When that has been done, put the batteries back in and try the remote.
This is an old thread but really helped me when my remote quit the other night. TV is less than a year old so I was really disgusted even though I like the picture and the features. No other controls except the remote so this thread was a God send. Thanks,
