Any opinions about the quality of Vizio brand televisions? I have my eye on a 70 inch LED model for 1599 at tigerdirect.

I have four Vizio Tvs. Two are 32" and two are 26". I am in need of a larger one for living room to replace a projection TV. I am torn between a Vizio and a Samsung.

But to answer your question, my smaller Vizios are perfect!

For a primary TV, I'd stay away from Vizio. Being torn between a Vizio and a Samsung is like being torn between a Hyundai and a Lexus.

Given that you get what you pay for, Vizio's aren't a bad buy at all. If you watch fast motion sports (football, soccer, etc), you'd be better getting a Samsung with 120hz refresh rate.

Vizio is good. Tiger Direct not so much. Be very careful about the warranty included. Sometimes the manufacturer won't honor the warranty because the product was an export model sold in the US. I've seen it happen more than twice with computer products. The model you get was for export to Canada but trying to get warranty service in the USA is an effort in futility.

Shop around, you can generally get a real close price from another source and make sure you get a USA model. If you do buy from Tiger Direct, get it in writing that the product you will receive will be a US model and not one designated for export. They are not the same.

The Vizio however, have models with good refresh rates but for fast action, even a Samsung at 120 isn't going to make for good viewing. Get something with 240 if you will watch a lot of action type shows.

Ever consider the new plasmas? Take a look because no LED can match the refresh rate of a plasma and the new models are lighter and just as thin for practical purposes, as the LEDs.

I would say definitely do NOT buy Vizio.

I spent most of the 9's in retail electronic sales and got a feel for what was good and what wasnt. Along came Vizio after I got out of the biz and their prices were REALLY cheap. I then started hearing they were utter crap. Didnt matter, I wasnt in the market for a tv. Fast forward to 2009 and I was hearing that their quality improved. I bought a 26 inch in the fall of '09 and put it in the bedroom. First complaint was that the field of vision is MUCH smaller than my other flat screen tvs. I had to put the tv level with the bed to be able to see it. Even a foot higher and the screen washed out. This past December it developed a vertical red line when you first turn it on. It goes away once the tv warms up but I have already researched that it means it is on its last legs.

Bottom line is I waited to see if the quality improved and my experience is that it hasnt.

I'm an Art Director and very picky about image quality. I picked up a 46 inch Vizio two years ago from Costco and couldn't be happier (except that it has dropped about 400 dollars in price).

Good price, good quality

Don't be fooled by Vizio's 120/240/480hz. It's not producing 120+ frames and is more or less a gimmick. Also, very few human eyes can tell the difference between 120hz and 240hz.

That being said, Vizio is decent for the price that you pay. But don't expect the same quality as you get from the higher end brands.

Good price, good quality
What are you using as a source when you feel your Vizio looks the best?

I'm sorry, but Samsung is nothing to cheer about. I have a 27" Samsung and it is total crap. I have two Vizio's they both have a better picture than the Samsung. Brand isn't as important as the individual model(except maybe for some of those no-namers) . Quality seems to vary greatly between even slight revisions of a set. Best to be able to see the exact set your are interested in person and judge it then.

Could that be because Vizio and Hyundai are a better value?
