Ups and Downs but no consistent warmth and the warmups aren't lasting as long as the downs.

Euro00z model data for Danbury, CT.

Surface struggles past 30s for 60 straight hours Monday evening to Thursday morning! Dips into 20s at night.

Airmass aloft at 5000' dips into the teens Tuesday/Wednesday and again Friday/Saturday next week.

Little precip(no storms)

Good news for cold lovers is no consistent warmth coming up and a couple cold blasts.

Bad news for snow lovers is no snow coming up. Boring pattern.

Normal 850mb temps is 1-2°C, So there are more below normal days than above normal next 10 days per Euro00z. Cold and Dry is the theme

Euro12z. Digging Clipper transfers energy to a Coastal storm November 27-30 and comes up the coast.

At least its helping us get through this boring pattern

Blows up off the coast. Too far for us but we're not talking about location right now. Lets get trend on a system going first.

So you guys saw the November snowfall collage I put together...

Well...….. Here are my actual photos from around here of the 1st snowfalls for December (not the season). The 1st snowfall of the month of December

Dec 13, 2010: 0.5"
Dec 26, 2012: 2.0"
Dec 10, 2013: 0.5"
Dec 11, 2014: 0.5"
Dec 29, 2015: 0.6"
Dec 11, 2016: 0.8"
Dec 9, 2017: 5.2"
Dec 24, 2018: 0.8"
Dec 1, 2019: 0.5"
Dec 16-17, 2020: 6.3"

Yes, I went back into my photo archives and matched them up. No snow fell December 2011. A lot of rain events including a strong 990mb low off cape cod 12/7/11 which had backside snow but NW of here so I missed out

This will help you understand and visualize how fluid our atmosphere is AND why our surface has the fluctuation of temperature patterns.....

A look at the 10,000' Temps and 500mb Heights twice a day since November 1st.

Note the movement and Note the Dip and Out. Dip and Out.

The Purples are Under 15°F. Pinks under 5°F. That's when the really cold airmasses hit us like yesterday staying in the 30s/40s.

When there is a blocking High in the North Atlantic, these airmasses are blocked from leaving too quick therefore giving us long duration cold. That hasn't happened yet. but at least the Jet stream is dipping instead of flat! When its flat we stay seasonable. When it rises north of us we break warm records.

Unless it gets colder in the West (i.e. Rocky Mountains or Sierras) before sunrise there, it looks like the cold spot in the lower 48 today is good old Mt. Washington, NH which got down to -2
