Oh we got some lightning! Wow the wind just stopped here. I can still hear it nearby. Getting quiet. Wish power would come back on. Thank goodness for the coal stove.

I guess it didn't stick well in Manhattan or they didn't get enough of those "bursts" of snow compared to other places.....Central Park gave a "final report" of 2.9" as of 10pm.......interesting how that jumps to 2 ft. just 30 miles away in Suffern, NY

Very tight gradiant. Feb 2013 was not like this. Everywhere got clobbered if I recall correctly.

My brother lost power for a bit in West Haven but it came back pretty quick. I’m not buying those totals either, 5” in Wallingford
I'm in Wallingford Center, that's about how much we have. Seems to fluctuate wildly though in a very tight area based on the reports.

Anyway -- Back Edge is near!

Also, Thundersnow in Hartford now.

The wind picked up and I could hear loud snow sliding off my roof right when it passed must have been a lot of snow loading down at once. Wished I thought to watch it.

nice illustration by NWS Boston of 4 levels of this storms. Can see the winds, moisture, temperatures and steepening lapse rates.

https://twitter.com/NWSBoston/status/971555409298444290

can see the winds ramp up and the pressure drop on Mt. Washington (800 mb level as you can see by the lower right chart) as the storm approaches. Not impressive for Mt. Washington standards; the tight pressure gradient is too far off

Lots of catching up to do. Incredible gradient! NYC only 3.2"??? Nuts.

First...

2-6am loop. Looks like it just ended past couple hours for Eastern half of CT. Storm off the coast of Maine now.
