Couple days ago I believe I said enjoy the next 7-10 days of no big storms.

Now I'll say this again... the upcoming pattern is ripe for a NorEaster and/or a snowstorm. I dont need anyone telling me this, I see it. But since Im not a Met or a "Pro", I'll leave this...

Fall is the one season that has the biggest warming trend at the CT coast since the 1980s.. Faster warming than Winter, Spring or Summer.

Nice to see a down year now. And Pretty amazing after September and early October was well above normal. Starting Mid October we reversed into the cold.

1 more week of Fall left then we look at the stats.

Heads up for Snow squalls today & tomorrow! It's going to be awesome to see Ocean Effect Snows. Not often in November you see that!

Nice and normal over Central U.S. We will moderate here for the weekend so this cold doesn't last long. If there was big blocking over the North Atlantic then it would of.

Look at that darker blue band pushing down. Blizzard conditions under it. Will it make it to CT?

Once again. Snowing hard in Litchfield County. They get the benefit from Lake Effects and Topography enhancement. Looks like some areas are getting whiteout conditions

BDL reporting light snow. Probably not accumulating cause those Jumbo jets are busy tonight. lol

Snow squalls incoming. I estimate the movement relative to my current position to be 30 mph (rounded up from 28.8.). This means, based on the estimated speed, it would start snowing at about 5:38 PM for my location. Let's see if that verifies

Here's what the NWS says. 35 mph.
Quote:
Special Weather Statement
National Weather Service New York NY
449 PM EST WED NOV 21 2018

...SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS WILL AFFECT CENTRAL FAIRFIELD...
NORTHWESTERN NEW HAVEN...WESTCHESTER...SOUTHEASTERN ORANGE...PUTNAM
AND ROCKLAND COUNTIES...

At 443 PM EST, snow showers associated with an arctic cold front
will approach from the northwest this evening, moving southeast at
35 mph.

Locations that may be impacted include...
Danbury, Meriden, Shelton, New City, Naugatuck, Ossining, Peekskill,
Southbury, New Canaan, Monsey, Nanuet, Haverstraw, Mount Kisco,
Suffern and Mahopac.

Visibilities may drop quickly to less than a mile with these snow
showers. Icy roads are possible as the snow melts on the roads then
quickly refreezes.

Current 850mb temps. (5000')

-20C line has crossed the U.S border now in NY. Should get down to Hartford and over Eastern MA

-10C line should get as far south as Baltimore. Thats pretty much the Arctic front.

Hope hikers are prepared. What an airmass to look at and experience in November. I never have. We never have.

Zoomed out

plenty of sites to see the current 850mb temps.
