Did someone say the average snowfalls were updated every decade vs every year?

I think this chart is very inaccurate if you consider the past few years.

https://www.weather-us.com/en/connec...imate#snowfall
Every Decade using 30yr normals. Current one is 1981-2010.

Next update for Avg Temps and Precip will be in 2020 and use the 1991-2020 normal.

I believe Bridgeport normal snowfall will go from 27" to 38"/yr.

It will suck in the 2020s because it will be easier to get below normal snowfalls then. lol

Right because no way are our normals in the 30s in recent years!

So in 18 months we could be saying "We're at 50" and below normal!" HAH!!

I don't know - I think it's really deceptive to do averages that way. I get 19" in one storm and look at an average of 38" for the season and think it's an anomaly, except it's been happening an awful lot lately.

Default Decade Snowfalls for BDR

As the new season starts here's a look at the past decades for Bridgeport, CT.

Past 9 winters has seen 400"+; more than any other decade on record.

Another perspective is... The past 9 yrs has had more snow than the 1950s and 1980s COMBINED!

I just realized today... Boston as well. Nobody measured there so they recorded it as a Trace? WTF? It's almost like they're doing it on purpose so stats wont show there was snow around. lol.

Hmmm, or maybe they didn't according to other totals around them. Any webcams that proved this wrong?

They are just trying to prove that Boston is one of the least snowiest locations in New England at least Mass.

Despite its rough start, I'd love to have winter 2012 again! Consider Thursday this season's rough start.

Un....real.

For those not sure... the extra colors shown on the frames means more precip and inside cold air. Each update got snowier past couple days for Tuesday.

Focused more on southeast new england but has over 1/4" for Danbury.

Tuesday snowstorm coming??

Snowing in Ridgefield. More November snow. lolol

Looks like some stray snow showers around. Don't be surprised. Shouldn't accumulate. Although looks like it might be in Bristol

Zoomed out..

Snowing across NY state. My sister is already tired of winter in Olean, NY

Yep crazY November weather!

Like we said it can and does happen but this is a rare pattern indeed. I'd rather this than snow in late March. The real question is..does this pattern hold or do we end up with a mild mid winter. Odds favor the latter just based on weather pattern cycling.
