Nope! Just happen to be hanging out in the other end of the world (Singapore) this week. Wicked humidity, by the way...don't ever come here Cam!

Trust me, I've been reading.

I will say the winds caught me by surprise this morning. I expected then, but a couple of gusts in Cheshire/Wallingford were quite high and I felt it move the car a bit. Door almost hit a coworker while walking into the building too.

Well cambium in my honest opinion I think a lot of posters were disappointed in your behavior this winter.

People are probably going out to their local supermarket to get bread and milk because of the coldest air mass of the season coming on with the thinking that their car(s)/motor vehicle(s) won't start tomorrow.

Good thing this event will be very short lived.

Great reporting as usual Cambium, too bad the forecasters have gotten it wrong too many times though imo.

Wow. Hope you don't have to get quarantined. I'd be scared to be there for that reason, not the weather..

By the way, I see it. Currently Temp 81°. Dewpoint 75° . Feels like 86°.

When the jet stream is south of us with one Arctic front after another, its gonna be cold. But doesnt last long.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service New York NY
407 AM EST Fri Mar 3 2017

.SYNOPSIS...
A series of Arctic fronts move across the region, one this
evening and another Saturday
. High pressure builds Saturday
night and Sunday, passing east Monday. A warm front, then cold
front moves through mid week. Another cold front tracks across
the area Thursday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Intensifying upper level jet will be south of the region.

Looking for initially dry conditions today before chances of
snow showers increase with the approach of the shortwave axis
and arctic front.

Went with a colder solution of temperatures following the
NAM12/GMOS/MET guidance combination
. Highs stay mostly in the
mid to upper 30s with continued cold air advection from the NW.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM SATURDAY/...
Main upper level jet will still be positioned south of the
region
.

Snow showers likely for first hour or two this evening before
decreasing from NW to SE as shortwave pivots southeast of the
region along with the surface arctic front.

Dry and cold gusty conditions continue later tonight through
Saturday as cold air advection continues to deliver much colder
temperatures. Lows forecast tonight are in the teens to low 20s
while Saturday will have highs mainly below freezing except for
NYC which will hover near freezing. The trend is colder for
daytime highs because a secondary cold front and mid level vort
max move across the area from north to south Saturday, to
reinforce the colder air.

Models in general agreement initially as upper level trough and core
of the cold air retreats Saturday night and Sunday, with ridge
building by Monday.

Very cold air remains in place Saturday night and Sunday, and leaned
toward cooler mos numbers during this time frame. Lows Saturday
night will range from near zero, to the upper teens in NYC. A gusty
NW wind will only add to the chill, with wind chill readings from
-10 to zero expected, quite cold!

On Sunday, temperatures should rebound into the 30s.

Dry weather is forecast with mainly clear skies through the latter
portion of the weekend.
