So much fun. I love these Potpourri days.

No idea whats better. Shoveling snow with sleet and ice on top or shoveling snow then shoveling sleet separately and freezing rain fall.

Look at the top of the pile. Beautiful brown slush color. lol

From what I saw, Berlin got about 4 new inches before it changed over to light freezing rain/drizzle.

Forgotten in all of this? A year ago this week, either today (February 13th) or tomorrow (February 14th), Bradley [BDL] had two consecutive days with lows below zero F. One of the two days was -10 F, the coldest morning there in 20 years.

Wicked winds! Storm is strengthening off the coast of Maine. They are getting hammered with a blizzard.

After Thursdays storm threat (which I dont think will happen now) there are no more snow & ice threats till at least end of month. We actually warm up next week with rain storm mid week.

My driveway was glass before bed, salted and thankfully a light dusting of snow came and covered it up. So mid week us an official dud?

::MID WEEK STORM::

Quick Discussion from NWS NY & Philly. Key word... "SEPERATE"

Global models initially continue to show separation between northern
stream trough and southern stream, with closed upper level low
approaching Tuesday night and passing across the northeast Wednesday.

At the surface, low pressure passes overhead Tuesday night into
Wednesday, and deepens Wednesday night off the New England coast.
Stacked low moves northeastward late in the week, toward the
Canadian Maritimes.

As for sensible weather, a rain/snow shower is possible (dependent
on boundary layer temps) Wednesday as the upper low, and sfc cold
front passes. Most locations though remain dry, and these dry
conditions are anticipated through the remainder of the week and
into the weekend.

With presence of upper low, cyclonic flow, clouds will linger for a
few days before giving way to more sunshine late in the week and
into the weekend.

Two separate storm systems will progress downstream across the
eastern CONUS toward midweek. The stronger of the two systems will
be a northern stream clipper digging into the Great Lakes

Tuesday night and then Northeast states on Wednesday. The second
system is a southern stream disturbance that tracks E-NE
through the Southeast states. Both systems are currently
expected to pass to our north and south, respectively, resulting
in minimal impacts to the region. PoPs were raised for late
Tuesday night and Wednesday across our far southern zones (as
high as likely for S DE) with the northwestern edge of the
precipitation shield potentially brushing central Delmarva/far S
NJ. These systems are still expected to phase off the eastern
seaboard late Wednesday. This will result in a rapidly deepening
coastal low off the New England coastline. At this time, there
is not really any support for these systems to phase earlier,
thus allowing the low to track closer to Mid-Atlantic coast.
Nonetheless, it still bears watching.

Now lets take a look at an image of tonight. Current storm producing Blizzard in Maine and high winds for us is leaving. Notice the next 2 coming. If they merge south of Boston we get a storm.

Now watch in action per GFS... See them? They merge off Maine, too late for CT to get anything. Very close!

Strong storm is right there this morning. Blue outline = heavy snow rates. Maine getting hammered with a blizzard. 1-2 feet of snow to fall.

Looks like the Green Mountains are producing its own snow with strong uplift. The Berks and hills of CT as well. Cool to see actually.

Looks like virtually every district except Stamford delayed, with some districts in northern CT, Waterbury and the Hartford area closing.
