Cam, what makes August so "dewy" in the mornings?

I've noticed we had a lot of dewy days in July. I was getting annoyed early in the morning walking on the grass and having the shoes always wet.

In short.. The ground temp is cooling past the dewpoint. Humidity is high while the surface is cooling. So if your dewpoint at night is 60 and the ground is cooling to upper 50s/low 60s, chances are you'll have dew.

Yet, oddly, wet shoes don't bother you in the winter?

I notice it as dew on the car which I have to clean off before driving. I don't remember seeing it often in July at all. Maybe you're more in the country than I am?

Thanks! That makes sense.

.
I dont wear sandals in winter. Couldnt wear sandals in summer so was annoying to put my shoes on. Couldn't even put my old garden shoes on because my socks would get wet (not really weather proofed enough) so needed my weather proof hiking boots to walk the dog.

Meteors continue tonight. Head away from the lights and look northeast after midnight. 100 streaks per hour.

Look's like the heat and humidity is coming back briefly. Enjoy tomorrow and Friday as changes are coming this weekend.

Maybe Cam can chime in but I think they are calling for the end of August heading into Sept to be quite hot.

Don't worry fall is just around the corner. LOL

Tonight: Clear skies and cool temps. Lows around 60 with low humidity. Great viewing weather for the Perseid Meteor Shower tonight!
Thursday: Sunny and beautiful again. Highs around 83 with a few afternoon clouds inland.
Friday: Last day with low humidity and mostly sunny skies before we return to a humid theme! Highs around 85.
Saturday: Hot and sticky, highs in the mid-upper 80s with some PM thunderstorms.
Sunday: Plenty of sunshine, highs in the upper 80s to around 90.
Monday: Looking good with some afternoon clouds. Very hot…humid too. Highs in the low 90s, but it’ll feel near 100 degrees!

Not end of August.. after mid month. Euro model says heat wave for Hartford(BDL) Sun-Mon-Tues. Hey.. instead of hot linking the image, save it and post like I just did inside your post. I think it's against the rules to hot link anyway. Takes up a lot of bandwidth

Enjoy the non muggy days this week it might not be back till next Fri Euro says. Notice the dewpoints in the 50s this week then rise to 60s and even oppressive 70s mid week right before the front
