It only hit 82 or so the past few days where I live, and I've been running in the shade each day. It's been cloudy much of the day. Humid yes, but not hot. I'm not falling for the media hype so far, it's not a heat wave yet.

Looking at the data.. BDL officially has a heat wave. Last 3 days in a row hitting 90+. Lol

Was Hazy, Hot, & Humid today. Got a migraine staying outside for 30 minutes. Forgot to check my max before I shut my computer down but I believe I maxed in upper 80s. Might of hit 90.

Max temps today.

Morning temps were very warm. Low 70s in some spots!

I learned never say can't or never with weather. (say that 10 times fast. lol) Here's the thing... it's happened again after that... just not in our area. So these Early Fall leaf snowstorms are happening, for 1 area to get hit all the time is rare..

South Dakota got their share last year when an Early September snowstorm hit with leaves on the trees. Widespread damage and power outages happened.

October 4, 2013 Casper, WY got crushed with snow and leaves on trees.

End of September 2013, Riverton Wyoming Earliest snowstorm on record

That's just U.S.. Canada had their share of record early snowstorms recently too.

Calgary End of September 2014, took weeks to clean up.

It can happen anywhere, anytime... If we are back in an 1800 weather pattern, we don't have records to show how common Fall snowstorms are in multiple areas.
And here we are again.................... Record cold and ... August Snow in Wyoming tonight. Special Weather Statement issued for it. NWS Boulder, CO as well. NWS Cheyenne says "It's Rare"

These snow events are happening earlier and early or just early. If this pattern we have in place keeps happening for Fall/Winter we are in for some crazy stuff and snowstorm tracking (not saying our area in particular)

Edit: Note it is above 7000' but remember, its not the Northeast. People live and travel at that elevation there and also note...it is August. Its early for them too. The previous post was lower elevations with the September and October snows.

Cheating a little with this month since there are 13 days left but right now it's tied for warmest August at BDR.

May was 2nd warmest.
March 3rd coldest.
February was coldest and by a HUGE margin vs 2nd coldest.. Charts look nuts for February.

Yup...I don't need maps or data to know how bad its been recent weeks. My body is feeling it.

Current Dewpoints.

Bridgeport hit 75°F today which ties the highest dewpoint this year with July 30th. 4th day in row 70+. WARM & MUGGY has been the theme!

Miami 78°

Again, I think a lot of what's going on is the rise in nighttime lows (most Augusts used to have at least one nighttime low below 60 in NYC and BDR, in the last 2-3 decades it's somewhat of an exception). An interesting aspect of this "warmth" that makes me think that is this summer we really haven't had an abnormal amount of 90+ degree days, and certainly nothing touching 100.

Something posted today about Central Park on a NYC weather blog I follow is really telling about this summer given that it is "quite warm" even though we really haven't had any "extreme heat" in my view. I don't think the record will be broken though (17 days from now takes us into September):

Today was the 42nd day in a row with a high of 80 degrees or warmer, making this the second longest such streak on record (moving ahead of 1943 and 2011, had streaks of 41 days). The longest such streak, which occurred in 1944, lasted 59 days.

Admittedly, it reflects a relatively dry summer as well, as if we had an all-day rain it likely would've kept the high under 80.
