I used to screen shot forecasts from 5+ days out just to see how many times its off. It was quiet funny to see and also time consuming and also consistent so i stopped.

My guess its because 1 of the 5 or all.

1. Its from an older model update (beyond 12hrs prior) so its not updated yet.
2. They need to control the audience and not cause fear or hype.
3. They "need to" be conservative to keep their jobs
4. They have no clue what their doing
5. They weigh in on the model thats not with consensus, in this case the GFS.

Still a week away. Might be sunny instead. Lol

If the GFS starts showing it at todays 5pm or 11pm update, I'll post here and confidence definitely increases on this potential.

lol @ riddle.

Will check out Bernie in a few.

GFS18z has a big Nor Easter but it's Monday. So strange how such an active pattern it cant figure out when or what the storm will do.

I think whats happening is, there are 2 coastal storms. GFS is putting too much emphasis on the 1st and bringing it too close? Euro keeps it OTS but then the 2nd one happens on Tuesday as GFS is showing for Monday. What a mess for forecasters!

And notice the clipper hangs back here. What the Euro does is wait for that to merge with the Tuesday coastal. lol Lots of unanswered questions still.

Yeah, so Bernie mentioned it too.

There's 2 situations. The first one Sunday-Monday (which GFS shows a big NorEaster) should be a miss instead.

The second one Tuesday-Wednesday(which GFS doesn't show anything but Euro and Canadian do) is the big snowstorm.

Can you imagine both are actually snowstorms? 2 big snowstorms 36hrs apart?? That would be an extreme and talked about for years.

I don't think so. In my experience when 1 big storm happens, it takes the energy away from the atmosphere and the other doesn't happen or is as big.

Also, I love what he said and only a video can really explain it.

The arctic front will sit and wait for energy to come in and then goes Boom. Where does that front wait?!

Are snowstorms 36 hours apart that unusual- this scenario played out multiple times last annum for Boston.

Funny you mentioned that. As I typed it I was thinking of what happened in Boston. Yeah, pretty unusual. I believe Boston demoslished their all time 3 day snow total or something.

I remember when we had 3 blizzards and snowstorms within 4 weeks and that wasn't common.

Sunday-Monday should miss us but Tuesday gets us. Watch
