Anyone notice which way the rain is coming from? Looks like its spinning or not moving.

Coastal storm now couple hundred miles off Rhode Island.. 45° with a breeze. Almost feels like a NorEaster. Let the stormy pattern begin.

Did you guys see the blizzard warnings in Kansas and Nebraska? Will update this thread throughout the day. https://www.city-data.com/forum/weath...ral-u-s-5.html

I'm off for the next several days. Sitting at home looking out at the wet leaves that need raking, hoping the little fig sapling takes hold and survives the cold. We are at the tail end of the renovation inside the main floor of the house. Still have basement and outside to do but no rush on that. We need our coal stove up and running. I hope the rain clears for the morning - I have a job scheduled at work that HAS to be done. But today I'll nurse this cold, work on some easy stuff and check in here periodically to see what to expect.

I felt like I was reading the first chapter of a novel the way you wrote that

I'll take that as a compliment! I happen to have a novel gathering dust, needing re-write. I wanted Cadmium to know I got a fig sapling - he has a great fig tree that produces a bounty!

I'm new-ish to CT and am nervous about the upcoming winter. I'm thankful for the wisdom here!

Absolutely a compliment. Well so far this winter looks like nothing to be worried about, but things change in the northeast pretty quick!

Hard freeze in Mid October killed all plants. Everything is done now. Leaves fell off Fig tree and roots are going to sleep. Bring it inside or cover it for the winter.

Coastal storm moving away now. Things going to clear up. Chilly out there in the 40s.

I want to get the final raking and mowing done this weekend but looking at this.. Maybe Saturday wont be the best day to tackle the leaves. We'll see.

WE ARE LOOKING AT A DRY FORECAST WITH NEAR TO JUST BELOW NORMAL CONDITIONS FOR THE WEEKEND WITH THE COLDEST AIR ON SAT. BRISK W/NW WINDS WILL BE PRESENT BOTH FRI AND SAT WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH KT POSSIBLE.

Not a pattern you want to see if you want cold and snow. Major flip from last year.

Jet stream digging towards Mexico. Ski resorts out west are going nuts.

Million dollar question, will it flip around for winter?

We cant get a NorthWest flow like this. All south and warm. Only quick shots of cold.

Not the coldest airmass of season but with a strong NW flow it will feel cold. Saturday not a good day to rake leaves due to the wind gusts.
