Friday Snow Total forecast from 5 NWS Offices. 2-4" snowfall East of Pittsburgh, north of Philly, South of Hartford. Further north you are, the less likely for snow.

Euro slowed it down a bit. Might be a headache evening commute Friday.

Weather is about timing, right? So we have this high pressure that just moved in with fresh cold air and a storm moving up the coast right after.. Perfect timing for snow. Then you'll have cold air damming to deal with.

From NWS NY

They are going against NAM & GFS and saying they don't believe it stays all snow. Lol. Seen them wrong before, let's see.

I think it starts after lunch in CT, ends Friday night. Lightly falling through the day.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
654 AM EDT WED MAR 18 2015

A COLD AIRMASS WILL ALREADY BE IN PLACE AS COLD HIGH PRES
RETREATS...SO EXPECT SNOW AT THE START FRI MORNING. RIDGING/COLD
AIR DAMMING TRIES TO HOLD ON ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH THE
AFTN...BEFORE WEAKENING. THIS WILL AFFECT THE NORTHWARD EXTENT OF
THE PCPN FIELD DURING THE DAY FRI AS WELL AS AMOUNTS. HAVE
INCREASED POPS TO CAT NEAR THE COAST...BUT ONLY LIKELY WELL
INLAND DUE TO THIS. THE NEXT ISSUE IS THE THERMAL FIELD. GUIDANCE
IS ALL OVER THE PLACE WITH THIS...THE NAM AND GFS BUFR SOUNDINGS
ARE COLD AND KEEP ALMOST THE ENTIRE EVENT SNOW. AM NOT BUYING THIS
AND THINK AT LEAST COASTAL LOCATIONS WILL CHANGE OVER TO RAIN
SOMETIME FRI NIGHT. DEPENDING ON SFC TEMPS...SOME OF THIS COULD BE
FREEZING RAIN. GENERALLY THINK A 1-3 INCH SNOWFALL BEFORE THE
CHANGEOVER AT THE COAST WHERE THE HIGHER QPF WILL BE. INLAND
SHOULD STAY ALL SNOW BUT WILL HAVE LIGHTER QPF AMOUNTS. SO 2-3
INCH TOTALS

Latest NAM PType animation. Fast mover but bad timing for evening commute.

I think someone in NJ might get a thumping or even Long Island. Fresh New Canadian High Pressure right over us to start. So KEY!

Time stamp bottom right. Remember its Zulu time.
18z = 2pm.
00z = 8pm day before.

No mix or rain crap even shown. Not many 40s in sight next 10 days. Slow and steady into the spring and summer season.

Average high is now near 50 inland. Looks like the pattern of 15 degrees below normal continues.

What a traffic crapshow in Fairfield County this morning...was the DOT caught off guard and roads were untreated or was this a case of bad drivers hitting the road in a snow squall?

And... I wonder how many times March had a colder average than December which we are on pace for.

Speaking of water temps ...

take a look at this awesome Hi-Res site. Waters are still frigid off the Northeast coast.
Central Gulf of Mexico warm and is above normal.

These are Water temps, not anomalies.
