Typical OBS scene for winter events. Mix/Ice/Rain on long island and snow across the way in CT. I'm still snow and waiting for the change...Oh crap... I HEAR SLEET! lol

Use the metars, not the radar in this case. Radar not picking up the changeovers like in NJ & NYC

YUP!

Good lesson here......... 850mb temps are below freezing (4000 feet above) but it's not snowing. Its ice in NYC, Long Island, Rain on Nantucket, & Rhode Island... On the right is the 2000 foot temps..925mb warmed up and so it's changing the precip falling through the air. Surface still in 20s and 30s hence the ice.
The metars are the actual reports.

A solid 6" at least in Wallingford. Drove home from Branford at around 9pm and the roads are a mess. Definitely a 4WD only condition, always thankful we have the Jeep.

Temp is holding at 30 and snow is coming down heavier as I head to bed. I still don't see the rain coming up this way.

Most certainly is ice right now, least in the center of Wallingford.

Perhaps tomorrow I'll go outside if only briefly in short sleeves so I can feel the tropical 40 degree air.

just spent an hour shoveling cement snow. Been a while for this low ratio stuff. Kept saying to myself ohhhh yeaahhhhh I remember this. Snow sticking to shovel, can only push shovel so far, can't throw snow too far, heavy as hell!

Season total now 36 inches. Got soaked from the freezing rain falling (which added to the weight). Just wore a sweatshirt with hoodie. Warm out. 31F

Snowblower is your friend, especially tonight. Glad I went out tonight and got it cleaned up. I suspect tomorrow will be really heavy cement type snow. So whatever falls later, if any, it should still be way easier to deal with.

We just got a slow but fluffy 4" more of snow today. It was actually kind of beautiful (can't believe I'm saying this) but it was such a little bit and it made things all clean and white again. I do hope there is rain tomorrow though and that some gets washed away. This is extreme northeastern coastal MA.

I definitely didn't have ice as of my post, it was white fluffy snow in my unplowed driveway. Just checking outside now and it's still very lightly snowing.
