Mixum: winter is not even half over and both snowfall and cold weather are well above average at this point in the season. I don't get it.

when u have days almost in 50s 3-5 times in january..... spring will be early. book it.

not to mention every "big storm" always fizzles out or is rain.

look u guys didnt listen to me in the fall.....and it was a stormless fall with drought conditions. this will be a early hot spring summer and a bad fall/winter next year. always balances out.

If I had listened to you in the fall temperatures wouldn't be well below average and snow trending much higher. Game set match.

I think it depends on where you are in CT. In Hartford, we have had bare ground more days than snowcover in January (unscientific observation). If we don't get a big storm or two in Feb, I agree it will go down as an unremarkable winter up here on balance.

In the Hartford area the snow cover is a joke. Wasn't a great winter

It has not seemed that snowy to me, either. But maybe I am just comparing our recent winter snowfall totals which have been over the top, to this year.

Okay, only .18" above normal precip for the month of January, 2" below normal snowfall, with the exception of Bridgeport. So yes, maybe location matters a great deal.

Technical Discussion - WFSB 3 Connecticut

January 2014, in review…

Despite a mild end to January, the average temperature for the month will come in colder than normal. The average temperature at Bradley International will come in at 24.4 degrees, which is 1.7 degrees colder than normal. Total precipitation (rain plus the water equivalent of snow and ice) is 3.41", which is only 0.18" above normal. Snowfall wasn't too impressive. The total for the month is 10.3", which is 2.0" below normal. However, Bridgeport received 13.4" of snow in January, which is 5.7" above normal for that location.

I haven't even looked at anything since yesterday.. I'm flying blind right now.

All I know and I think is still on tap is a snowy week coming up.

Monday snow. Wednesday Snow to Rain. Sunday Snow. But like I said... I have a lot of catching up to do. Enjoy the outdoor temps this weekend! Feels nice finally after a very cold January.

BDR almost made Top 20 coolest Januarys on record. (21st spot) with a 27° Mean. -3.1 Below normal

BDR 13.4" of snow in January which was almost half foot above normal. +5.7"
