I know Yale would never move that probably be the only place it would or NYC. I am still waiting for a Governor to offer a tear of free living in their State for CT Residents.

FL's governor just proved how moronic he is by trying to get Yale to relocate. I'm not all for CT's anti-business climate, but really? People take this guy seriously?

Maybe republicans are just finally realizing how to make noise and use the media. " any publicity is good publicity" kind of thing. Every second of air time he wastes is, at the very least another second a liberal doesn't get. Who knows.

The media is so far left bent that I doubt this is true....

The FL governor is making a point with his offer it is a wise point to make. He is sending a message to companies, etc. that they have options and do not need to be stuck in tax hungry states. It is clear that Yake is not going to move, but many companies and individuals are getting sick and tired of state governments taxing everything that moves and, at some point, enough becomes enough and a strategic move to another state makes sense.

Imagine if we had a governor and other state leaders that took more serious efforts to bring in more jobs, versus chasing people out of the state due to high taxes. I would take the Florida governor any day of the week versus what we have now.

Yes, this is why Stamford and anywhere within 55 mins of Stamford has a future while the rest of the state has really tough sledding ahead.

The move by GE to Boston and the general exit from the far suburbs back to the cities is driven by two factors. i) The best millennials won't move to your lame non sports city unless it has great weather or recreation and ii) businesses continue to seek a reliable regulatory/tax climate (lower taxes are good, but so isn't a sound state budget and CT's state budget is one of the absolute worst in the union with a grossly underfunded pension liability). A third factor can be access to major airports and no BDL is not a major airport.

Business competing on cost and knowledge are flocking to FL and TX because it can meet all three requirements. Central CT is unable to meet any of them. Boston and NYC can meet #1 (ie Cities on scale to offer pro-sports).

Those in the commercial leasing and home/rental apartment business are keenly aware of these trends...regardless of their political affiliations. After all, all but FF county lost population again last year. Losing population in frankly unprecedented in post WWII America unless you are a farm state or a true mid west rust belt city.

anything past Stamford/Darien/Norwalk is longer commute to NYC 80 minutes by train or 1.5-2.5 hrs by driving with traffic.

Yale will move its endowment foundation to another state in a matter of days if the endowment tax is added.

Over the very long run, while bold, it is not out of the realm that an institution like Yale would not start by opening a small campus in Florida. Florida has a bright future ahead and Yale could find the state a better partner for doing whatever Yale envisions is best for its university (research support, university hospital support, etc)....think 50 years ahead.
