Statewide, Home Sales Show Gains - Hartford Courant
I find it odd how Hartford County had such a high number of sales within the past year even though the Hartford areas population dropped by just over a thousand in 2015. I guess it just means many people put their homes up for sale and many bought them but it still fell short. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone

Database: Look up population charges for every U.S. county

Overall state dropped by just over 3,000 in 2015.

First remember that the figures given are only estimates and not based on any large scale true data. I seem to remember similar things being said 10 years ago only to be proven false when the actual census was taken. That said, much of this is likely due to the retirement of the Baby Boomers. Many just keep their home up north and buy a home down south and go back and forth. It will be interesting to see if this can be caught by the next census or not. Jay

True. If you look at the 2009 the population was 879,000 then the next year when the census was done it jumped to 895,000. It could look better or worse as we get closer to 2020 but I don't think we'll see a spike that high.

U.S. Census: Fairfield County Only One With Growth

The U.S. Census Bureau reported today that Fairfield County had the fastest population growth in Connecticut last year.

Between July 1, 2014, and July 1, 2015, Fairfield County’s population rose 0.2 percent over the period—the only Connecticut county that had a growth in population.

That translated into a net gain of 2,237 persons over the period, the Bureau said.

Fairfield County is the most populous county in Connecticut, with 948,053 residents, followed by Hartford County and New Haven County.

Information on which communities in Fairfield County were the fastest growing will not be available until June, said Ana-Maria Garcia, a Bureau spokesperson.

This information is based on annual population estimates for each of the nation’s counties, county equivalents, metropolitan statistical areas, and micropolitan statistical areas since the 2010 Census and up to July 1, 2015.

According to this article on GE's move to Boston, 200 of the 800 Fairfield workers will be moved to Boston and 200 will be moved to Norwalk. The rest is unknown at this point. The article does however have an error. It states that GE used to be headquartered at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City before moving to Fairfield. That is not correct. They were at 570 Lexington Avenue before Fairfield. They only got the 30 Rock building when they bought RCA/NBC in 1986 long after they had moved to Fairfield. Jay

Interestingly, the 30 Rock property is also being sold to offset the cost of the move, according to the official press release:
