People here and the media in CT have forgot that one or more of the state pension funds lost approx $220 million dollars in a shady deal with Enron via the CRRA. This happened about 2000/2001. I do not think the state (CT) recovered any of that money thru Enron's bankruptcy or any other corporations bankruptcy.

I think Rowland was Gov during this time frame.

The problem is that Hartford is the most poorly run city in the state and essentially gets rewarded with more state subsidies than any other city (and yes I know about PILOT).
Where did you get this information? The state is financing (not funding) 5 million of the 10 million overrun. I could be wrong, but, please point to a source that validates your claim.

I remember this. You're right, it WAS during Rowland's tenure. I never understood why we couldn't recovery any money from this, and it's largely the reason we're having the problems we're having now. Having said that, the tax hikes we've endured these last few years haven't been nearly enough to offset the costs and they were wrong. I worked at a news station at the time this scandal unfolded, and his opponent Bill Curry ran a few campaign ads (a few quite humorous) pointed at Rowland for this.

Rowland, yet another corrupted elected official in CT. Becoming a pattern with this, isn't it?

Hartford.Gov - Fiscal Year 2016

If you look at "Intergovernmental Revenues," you will see it makes up approx. 46% of Hartford's total revenue.
