Look at the bright side, it may lower the price of housing in the area...

They're just relocating. If GE is moving to Westchester County, NY (which doesn't make a whole a lot of sense to me) then some workers may keep their houses in CT but commute farther to NY.

Boston came on real strong at the 11th hour, in very serious consideration, hence the delay.

I do think if Ct overwhelms them with the biggest economic incentives by a large gap, it may be possible to keep them.
Correct, but post 2259 also says August 26th. A couple of "incidences" occurred since that may have changed his mind.

Local officials are worried about tax revenue implications. If the company donated the property to a non-profit

They pay property taxes to Fairfield to the tune of 1.9m. That would be a hit.

Should be interesting to see what happens but if Malloy really didn't put effort into it they will be gone. They also want an area that is growing.

I was listening to a New York City radio talk show this morning, and the guest stated GE knows they won't be able to sell their Fairfield headquarters. So if they move, they will donate it to a non-profit group and it will no longer generate property taxes, resulting in a big loss for the town of Fairfield. So loss of revenue for the town which would have to be made up somewhere.
