Absolutely this, however it seems like ghost listings are far more common in certain job markets than others. Some of it is the arms-race of the online job market, some of it is to keep up good rates with the job brokers (like indeed and temp agencies), some of it is compliance run far amok. That said though there are job markets in the country that are in a bonafide labor shortage: in CT Bridgeport/Norwalk/Stamford, Groton/NL, and Hartford have been in or extremely close to labor shortages since before 2010 and New Haven metro seems to be as well more recently. That's four of the 6 major employment centres in CT off the top of my head (haven't checked Waterbury or Middletown in a long time so I honestly have no idea).

Frontier hq goes to Texas!

Interesting: People can stay working in Ct remote, but corp gets tax credits of $2,500 per Texas FTE hired. I suspect those staying in Ct will seek new jobs, Frontier knows it, gets tax credits to replace them with Texas locals, and avoids bad press of layoffs. That is a win-win way of handling it.

I have not checked per capita is a while because I knew that Covid skewed the numbers. Here is 2022. It does seem that Texas and Florida have moved up which is impressive but an awful lot of money moved into CT during the Pandemic. CT and MA are basically tied.

I think I have said this quite often on here. MA is the most impressive state as their wealth is coming from pure education/brain power. CT's fortunes rise and fall with NYC but MA is it's own entity.

Give me a break, please. CT's fortunes don't rise and fall with NYC. NYC is a disaster these days, (rando bystanders are getting shot for no reason), and CT's doing just fine. Look at the traffic everywhere, there's a reason for that. Everyones out working and spending, God!
Remember when it was the end of the world as we knew it when GE left for Infallible Boston and Fairfield home prices were going to tank. It's all people talked about. How'd that work out?
Come on people, we're better than this

Actually when NYC fails, we benefit historically.

I am now in my 60's. In my early 20's I studied banking, finance and economics in college before I went to art school. Trust me on this one thing............ the three factors above are not a coincidence.

I believe you are only partially correct. It’s likely true that Fairfield County is tied to New York’s economy but the rest of the state with about 70% of the population is not. As I point out here often, the medium income of every county in our state is above the national average. That means that pretty much the entire state has wealth. It’s not just Fairfield County. Jay
