That one was terrific, and we actually came close to losing Sun Products to Az (Henkel owned them). I have folks I know at corp, and originally, the plan was to move Sun to Az, not move the Az office staff and work to Ct. It was close to decision deadline time when the flip flop came about.

A godson wasn't happy, worked there, and from Scottsdale, Az.

Default Hartford Courant to be printed in Springfield, MA from now on

Sorry to hear this. It may not matter to some but it is a blow to prestige for Connecticut's capital.

Another of many CT businesses to now leave the state. This one hits hard as HC has been in CT since its founding in 1764.Its the longest running newspaper and second longest-running business in America.

The Courant is owned by a large corporation, so these decisions are not surprising. Too bad

I can remember listening to Bob Steele on WTIC in Hartford while I got ready for work. That station has gone to the dogs. But, having been born in Springfield, I guess I'm glad for Springfield, that's it's finally getting something.

I think The Herald of New Britain is also printed in Massachusetts. Part of why they have an early deadline. Where in Springfield? The former Republican Building by Union Station?

Why is this a blow to the prestige of Hartford? The printing of the paper is only being moved 25 miles north to a lower cost area. There’s been a massive consolidation of newspapers these days. It makes sense to consolidate operations to save money. The New Haven Register did the same thing years ago. That did nothing to impact the prestige of that city. This should not significantly affect Hartford either. Jay

Wasn't happening. Germans love Manhattan and being close to it was paramount. Scottsdale, as beautiful as it is, didn't have a chance.

As far as the printing move to Springfield, who cares, the printed newspaper is in its Golden Years stage. The death throes aren't far off. Boomers still read them. Gen X'ers don't. I'm not sure millenials even know what they are.

People forget Henkel’s American headquarters is in Rocky Hill. It made sense to bring their North American Consumer Services division closer to their main offices.

As far as newspapers go, it’s true that print editions are fading away. I’m not a youngster and except for our local paper, I never read print editions. Everything is online these days. Heck, I’ve read a number of newspapers in the Midwest are completely doing away with print editions. It’s a sign of the times. Jay
