It is strange...but I think the forces of the cold season and the warm season are really battling now. The pattern is trying to set in for the cold season, so November is often crazy.

However, in the coming days...a drier and warmer pattern surges in. We could see temps make a run at near 70 F in some of the urban areas (NYC, New Haven, Stamford...etc). So for those up in the northern/western areas of the Tri-State that did get snow last night - any snow will start melting fast...and soon I guess.:

At work on Suffield /Windsor Locks line there was barely an inch. Drove home to West Springfield and there was a coating on the ground but nothing really sticking to the roads.

Another amazing thing about this. This was an all snow event except the immediate southeast coast of the state. An all snow event in early November. Think about that. As for below normal monthly averages, I think even with a warm up November finally breaks that streak.

Oh, I'll definitely be thinking about it while I'm shoveling it. I had a bad feeling we were going to get more than predicted the way it was coming down last night. Hopefully this is just another freak weather event.

You're right... Something about the southwest that get caught in these heavy bands.

I wonder if its because of the warmer water feeding more moisture into the air and dropping as snow as it spins counterclockwise.

The southeast coast got lucky because the storm dismantled itself otherwise they would have gotten half foot too44

This is not something I usually wake up to in the Fall. LOL The car was cleaned off at 6pm yesterday. About half foot total here.

The 1-2" of snow forecast for my area ended up being a good 6". It appears DOT was also caught off-guard with this one based on the condition of the roads yesterday afternoon and during the evening rush hour.

Not since 1878 has NYC seen more than 0.1" of snow on this date until yesterday. WOW

Clintonville,CT is the winner I believe.

I saw 11 inches in Meriden. Not sure if that's confirmed though.
