How bizarre.
A lot of them out there are just sitting and moving willy nilly like you mentioned. The one over Waterbury and Meriden looks nasty! Just strengthening and not moving much. Moved southwest from Middletown about an hour ago.

Couple drops here but no accumulations again.

See, close to 90 again!

Interestingly, all of the NYC stations were mid-upper 80s for highs today as well, but they hit their highs (because they got the rain well before) at around 10:30am today! I guess they might have been well over 90 today if it weren't for the thundershowers.

Nothing interesting to talk about still. Series of disturbances moving through keeping things unsettled today all the way to next Tuesday when High Pressure moves in..
Seasonable temps from now till next week maybe warm at times.

Rain is possible on Sunday afternoon and Monday for Labor Day.

Euro says we'll drop to 40s next Thursday night and highs only in the 60s. We'll see.

A FB page I'm linked to about Hudson Valley weather said (but didn't give years) that if no hurricane forms this week it will be only the 5th year in 150 years of record without an August Atlantic hurricane.

Wow! More extremes. LOL And yeah.. I think eventually all those outlets with hurricane predictions will get ignored by everyone. Pointless! Just like winter forecasts in September. LOL Let me guess... their going to lower their Hurricane forecasts soon. LOL! On the other hand we're reaching "peak" now so we can still get them in October. There could easily be 5 in a month.

Another interesting tid bit I just came across.. Philly hasn't hit 90 this month. Its the first time without hitting 90 in August since 1984. That December was warm but ended up having freezing temps afterwards.

I had noticed that about Philly, they were 89 the day Central Park was 90. Ironically, Atlantic City, 60 miles to the east and usually cooler due to being on the ocean, had a 90 on Aug 9 when no one else did. South of Philly (i.e. Baltimore and DC) they've had a few 90s this August.

Also, Boston had 2 89's in a row on the 21st and 22nd, so they got really lucky with what looks like a 90-less August for them. I don't know how rare it is there though to not have a 90 in August, I don't think it's common but I bet it happens more often than once every decade or two given its ocean location and being a bit further north.

Of course, this being a CT forum, it looks pretty certain now that BDR and BDL will do it.

BTW, early December 1984 was super warm.....70 deg as far north as Albany, NY
