My lows were actually colder this morning than Sunday morning….my low was 35.5 F. I really didn’t think that would happen, but maybe it was not so much the temps as the fact that last night was clear and Sunday night had some low level clouds on Sat Night/sun morning. Still, looks like none of the Connecticut coast had any frost. Low temps tonight should be at least 6 to 8 F warmer.

Odds are that last night should just about do it for the threat of frost on the CT coast till early November. Officially, NWS Bridgeport has not had a frost since April 4th, (29 F) and my last frost was on April 6th (31.7 F). So NWS Bridgeport could still be looking at more than 200 frost free days this year if they report no frost until early November (their normal 1st frost is November 6th).

As far as what lies ahead…. forecast seems on track: Dry today sunny and highs in the mid 50’s (highs still about 5 F below normal). A low should track WELL east of the Tri-State on Tue/Tue Night, so we should see only some light rain showers for Tue/Tue night, followed by clearing and warming. Wednesday. Wednesday looks warm and mostly sunny with highs around 60 to 65 F. Rest of the week should see dry conditions and seasonable temps.

I have to admit I'm ready for a nice warmup now. Just won't break through.

It looks like today the last chance to see any cooler than average air masses days for the rest of the month based on the pattern.

The cold air in the Dakotas will move north of the Lakes and a decent westerly/zonal flow should take over in the coming days (kicking the last of the cool air OTS). After that it looks like the 540 line stays well up in Canada/upper New England. So for places to the south (including the Tri-State area) a warming and drying pattern should take hold. Even computer models show the main belt of westerlies shifting northward, especially in the Eastern states as the southerly flow comes surging back. So the cool days seem to be history after today. In fact, beyond a rain event and easterly flow (I see none in the next 10 days), my guess is based on the more zonal to southerly flow re-establishing...places from Connecticut/NYC southward are through with 50 F highs for the rest of spring. We should see 60's or 70's .

Highs should be near 70 F on Wed (5 – 7 above normal)…and the rest of the week looks warm with blazing sunshine and stable weather with normal highs in mid 60’s:

I think we'll see cooler than average, it just will be "barely cooler than average", not "well below normal" like the last few days. Tomorrow will clearly be above normal though......but I just looked at today's temps and WOW! Everyone (even NYC!) is around 45-deg right now.....but I agree it's probably the last time until the fall we see highs of 50 or less.

NYC max normals in February are 40s.

2pm temps April 23rd. Wind chill making it feel like 30s in spots. Clear sunny skies West of the Appalacians. I bet there's a fantastic view from the summits.
