From today's news:

New Canaan resident spots bear on porch

Yep, its only a matter of time before we hear of a bear running lose in Stamford Downtown. Matter of time because they just keep getting closer and closer.

I really hope schools in the more wooded parts of the city and in neighboring towns are taking precautions with the students playing in the school yards. Good thing summer vacation is around the corner.

Wow, Add one to the New Canaan count. There's a Video with link!

I know Greenwich Middle or Elementary school thinned out some woods next to them. Thought this was a great idea because things are more visible in case a nut or a Bear is hiding in there.

I saw a Fox in New Canaan the other day. But those are more common than Bears.

According to the roads mentioned in the link here is where the Bears were spotted in New Canaan. Wonder if its the same one.

While in CT we feel excitement with bear sightings, in Wisconsin they get an excitement from another kind.

Is this the first bear killed by a car in CT?

Quote:
A bear cub has been struck and killed by a vehicle in Connecticut.
The Republican-American (Cub dies after being hit by car in Torrington | Republican-American ) reports that the black bear cub was struck in a wooded residential area of Torrington about a mile from Burr Pond State Park on Monday evening.

With the increasing bear population, I'm afraid this will become a much more common occurrence in our state.

The state's DOT should consider ordering quite a few signs like this:

The state's DOT should consider ordering quite a few signs like this:

1. Not the 1st time, June 12th a woman hit a cub as article states.

2. Just more proof we are getting in their way. It's our fault not theirs. "We keep invading their territory and building"

3. I agree on putting up some signs. I mean they have a Deer sign near the beach in Milford. I'm sure Bears are more common north of Merritt than Deers south of I-95. No?

4. Speed limit is 40mph on Torringford Street there. Wonder how fast it happened or how fast they were going.

You ever see a bear run in front of a car? 40 MPH is fast. There's no way to stop. Stop blaming the human.
