Yup. And btw, A or "The" Lion was spotted in Fairfield (near merrit) couple days ago based on the neighbors of the house I was working on there. Sounds like its travelling NorthEast from Greenwich last week.

If its the same one. If theres 2 there could well be three. Almost makes sense for it to be multiple critters if they actually represent an increasing population of them from NYS. The Catskills arent all that far away and I'd imagine that any excess critters out looking for new ranges would just keep moving until they found something suitable. I cant imagine them thinking this area is suitable.

A bear is a different story, kinda like a giant racoon. It can kill you but isn't generally inclined to.

No big deal. My parents have seen them in their yard several times in northern FFC.

Click on this link- it's a current state DEP listing of black bear sightings in the state

There is obviously a very established black bear population in the state. The heaviest presence is in the northeast corner, but they are all over, including lower Fairfield County.

Black bears are common in the Farmington Valley too which is similar in character to Redding. One family member called us last week to say one was snacking on their birdfeeder on their deck right outside the sliders. The slider was open and all that separated them was the screen. I told them to close the slider slowly and get away from the door. The bear ate all the seed and then left. Needless to say the birdfeeder is gone from the deck now. Jay
