I found DaPietros underwhelming and a bit stuffy. Tarantinos is much more lively and has an active bar scene, even though the space is on the small side. It's run by the same people as Columbus Park in Stamford, but I think Tarantinos is much better.

Too bad Restaurant du Village closed. I had no idea, as I haven't been there in a few years. Really was a special place. They had this passion fruit dessert ( souffle maybe) that was out of this world.

I just saw that a Maggie McFlys is coming to Glastonbury at the "cursed" site of Bennigan's, Houlihans and Angelino's on Glastonbury Boulevard. I have not been to a McFly's. I know they are a small local chain from the Waterbury area. The menu looks decent but nothing special. Anyone have any knowledge of how good they are. I do hope they can make it there.

That building has had so many failures you do have to wonder why. I know Bennigans problem was the franchise owner lost interest because he did not get the support of the corporation that was promised (mostly advertising). Angelinos food was not that great so people would go to other places before going there. Not sure what heppened with Houlihans other than it was nothing special. Any thoughts? Jay

The food is "meh", but they do well in their locations. They're really no different than any unhealthy chain food.

I've always enjoyed McFlies for what it is. Their menu is sort of a Cheesecake Factory "knockoff". It's decent for a beer and some appetizers, but not fancy at all.

It's better than Ruby Tuesday.

Some places in Hartford County I don't think have been mentioned:

Yume at Unionville/Farmington center. Hibachi joint with decent prices. Also in Unionville is Matthew's Restaurant, though I haven't been there yet.

Over in Farmington proper there's the Grist Mill, very pricey. Naples has been mentioned but bears repeating.

In Plainville, right at the Farmington border, is Confetti's which may have undergone a name change recently. The dirt wings at J. Timothy's Tavern are one of a kind, but overall the food is very overpriced.

It is similar only to the old, Neapolitan coal-oven joints. Not the typical corner by-the-slice NYC joint.

Has anyone ever tried Dinners at the Farm on the shoreline?

Welcome

We drove by the setup on Sunday and it looked very cool, and the reviews are good, but the price is a shocker: $150 each. I guess it raises money for charity but yikes.
